One of the reasons you have a coil shock, over an air shock, is for the lack of stiction in the coil shock. Of course that advantage is gone if the stiction is back in the sliders. The sliders themselves appear to be the wrong material and there even appears to be plenty of room for ball bearing between them if the balls could be contained.

The slider setup looks like it will wear really quickly. Should really be hardened surfaces on contact points not just some plastic/rubber blocks running on aluminium. Yea, as soon as those soft aluminum channels, aka the whole battery boxes get scored a little with dirt and grit youll have a hard tail again no matter how many sliders you throw at it. Having the weight hung off center of the wheel from the back like that will make it constantly in a bind to one side. Tons of disposible parts that won't even be availible for a year. Lots of good innovations on this wheel but most are pretty poorly designed short cuts to save weight and money.

Thank you very much for the disassembly, this review is the most correct, unlike the beautiful Kingsong rollers. The sliders are made very ill-conceived, the plastic crawls along the open aluminum profile, sand gets in there and eats up aluminum very quickly. For 2900 dollars it looks like a mockery. S18 sliders made more thoughtfully. After installing normal oil seals, they work perfectly.

I really dont get it anymore…. From serious fact videos back to “opinions/assumption” videos (on a test-sample/predproduction unit) Those 3/6 bolts that you change “that make the suspension better” are mostly for setting the body(and pedal height) for the rider and are another chance to higher/lower the pedals for the rider AND adjust body shell height. Demanding shrink wraps when the battery is in a sealed aluminium compartment is also some kind of questionable, like demanding shrink wrap in a IM plastik sealed case. The battery btw even has a “water intrusion” detection, to see if the wheel was dumped for warranty cases, chnaging color on one of the stickers. And btw the 60Amp fuses protect the BMS and MB from oversurges of Amps. And as THESE kind of fuses are directly reacting (instead of normal fuses used for example in GW/Veteran) they are Not to high. they react on peak surge, not constant surge. Its pretty understandable that you have suspensions problems in general when such a light weight guy as you screws the feather down nearly to the end. It should be on the top of the screw ring, as a 750lbs spring is more for 90/100kg riders…. And just a word for the battery differencies in voltage. As it wasnt worth for you to adjust the charger, probably no balancing is happening at all in the moment. But even then…..having them a difference of 0,013 (dont remember exact number) is totally fine…even for a unbalanced pack. And hammering on the “shitanium” screws…..when allready KS promised to change them in mass production….remembers me of mexican loughing on the Block on the S18 “review”. will be interesting if we get a new video when its not a Sample/preproduction unit anymore…. Sorry, just disappointed….. #m2c

Awesome video as ever Adam, thanks for that teardown. Just as an aside, turning the spring on the suspension doesn't adjust the stiffness of the spring, it just changes the preload so basically it makes the EUC sag less when you get on it. If you bottom out on the spring, no matter how much preload you add, you will still bottom out on it unless you change the coil for one with more resistance. Most shocks manufacturers recommend to keep the preload to a minimum. Cheers!
@grb19692 жыл бұрын
I heard somewhere that sag should initially be set to 15% of spring travel when static loaded with rider’s weight. This is adjusted by preloading the spring. I mention this because it appears that most riders I’ve seen on YT aren’t properly setting up the suspension and are not experiencing the optimal performance. Also, those slide-blocks should be Delron (sturdy plastic) and the slider-channels should not be aluminum. 😣

Very good disassembly Adam. I 100% agree with the screws going through controlboard. Its not veyr useful to have sealed box when you drill it and screw through that (especially from top) thats not really engineered. Your fuse comment aged well seeing that the fuse is not really the weakest point unfortunately. Anyway that screwing of Shock spring changes the preload of spring. That mainly affects the ride height or the stiffness when fully rebound. You really dont change the suspension stiffness by this setting (or you do a little bit) but thats not really meant to do it this way. Changing for different spring is the correct method. The suspension really looks bad. I am really disappointed
