Kudos to WRTV for their deep dive reporting on this shameful history of Indy and what is being done today to try and reconcile that.

I rode the school bus with the two children of this household in the 90s and at the time was of similar age: I actually rode my bicycle, one time to the property and saw the weirdly dressed mannequins that flanked the indoor pool. In consideration I will not name the names of the son or daughter but honestly......there's no way that the wife didn't know that something was sideways.. ... Their home was definitely odd and so much, even as a fifteen year old I felt so uncomfortable that I never went back again. Sheriff's office under Whisman at the time also seriously botched this investigation. ... They had info that was not followed up on months ahead while Herb B kept killing.

Great documentary and memory of those who were lost. I was shocked to see myself and my ex in this video. I remember this time like it was yesterday. I personally knew two of the victims!

I believe in the statement by Micheal Connelly's character, Harry Bosch. 'Either everybody counts or nobody counts'. Perhaps if more people followed this guideline, more people would be saved from perps.

I spoke with Mary Wilson as she was investigating an individual from my area. Mary left a deep impression on me & she handled the interview in such a professional sophisticated way she won my respect @ that time. I was getting off work 3:00pm & she handled everything so professional, she had my plant manager to call me aside & go into a conference room where I Met with Mary & another officer. Should this have happened in today's time, I am sure everyone where I worked would have known something was going on & it could have made everything complicated, my Family & I have always been associated with law enforcement ,back then,& it was more professionalized then than it is today.I always wanted to somehow tell Mary, even though had she not done her homework & back ground investigation so well our conversation could have not went so smoothly, she was Very Good @ her job & i believe she broke this case. She didn't look down on a person's lifestyle, she knew these individuals had Loved Ones that were missing & she had the determination she was going to bring their Loved Ones closure. Thank you Mary

A few years later the individual Mary had asked me about, his Grandparents bought the adjoining property to mine, even though I grew up in this same small town I didn't know that their Grandson was missing until they became my neighbors.

The wife waited two years after finding a SKULL on her property before she decided to report it? I think she knew what was going on. If not right from the very beginning then certainly some time before she found the skull. She needs to take some responsibility.

I was just thinking the same thing, the guy that got away described the mansion and after that the guy saw him again at the gay bar that he was picked up from. My friend Phil was still going to that same bar, Our Place, now named Jimmy's, in the late 70s and early 80s it was a gay leather bar, a lot of men wearing leather caps. My friend Rick and I accidently went in there looking for beer and girly in about 1980. We figured out quickly it was a all male gay bar so we left and ended up going to another bar. What strkes me is that Herb looked so nice and frail in the picture. You just never know what a monster can look like. His wife had to know that he brought men home that she never saw again and she had to know of his bisexuality.

My brother Steven Elliott was one of his victims that was found in a ditch a quarter mile east of the Indiana Ohio State line in Eaton, Ohio on August 12, 1989. When I was interviewed once Herb was found in Canada I was asked if he had an accomplice. I told the interviewer from Channel 13 I told her yes because my brother was not a pushover. When I watched The Haunting of Fox Hollow Farm you can hear Herb talking to them and say ask Chuck. My question to this day is after all these years why hasn't anyone looked into the identity of Chuck. I would love to have someone from the news or the police department get in touch with me about the investigation on this vase

Hamilton Co. was advised by a caring Indy detective that Herb was a suspect & they did nothing. When the Indy detective finally got Julie's permission, Hamilton sheriff office went with her to inspect the property. They found bones quickly. Julie got a court order for the kids. Hamilton Co. picked them up at Herb & Julie's lake house. They had probable cause to detain him at that time & didn't. I know IN's conservative, probably worse back then. Cops there didn't care about them.

"Hero of the case"? With all due respect, if she and her team had waited until they had a warrant instead of tipping them both off that they were coming for him, that creep would likely have faced justice. So... yeah.

It appears that Herb operated in a similar fashion to Gary Rigeway, the green river killer. The choice of victims, those on the fringe, who might not be missed, and operating in a community where most won’t come forward to help law enforcement, either out of fear of exposure and/ or drug involvement. This allowed Herb to get away with his crimes for so long….His wife may have either been in denial or perhaps feared the truth. I’m sure noone wants to believe their spouse is a serial murderer….Such a tangled web of deceit…..

I'd love to see them do that too, but it's like $5,000 a pop to test and they're saying there are 10,000 fragments of bone. They would have to test all of them and thousands could belong to the same person. It would be really hard, but I wish they would.

Thank you, Peter Monn for presenting this case to others outside of the area years ago and currently. Gay or not... They were people too with wants and feelings. They could have made a difference not just for the LGBTQ community, but who knows one of them could have been a scientist or something big. Potential stolen from them and robbed from the world! Peter is such a great example of someone who was living in the area at the time, using, and potentially could have been a victim himself. Look at him now! The man has lived a life full of experiences to share and create hope for others not just of the community. 29 years sober, married to his husband, living his best (gay) life, with love, respect, and never without a sense of humor and humanity. Showing the world how wonderful people of the community are in the process. He keeps growing and learning even today. Imagine what the ones that didn't make it, and what could have been.... 🩵

I feel so bad for the families. Not being able to bury your loved one is devastating. I don't understand why some people are not accepting of a gay man or a lesbian. They are just normal people. Personally, of the guy men I know, they are much more empathetic and caring than straight men. Just let people be themselves and live a happy life.

I can’t believe people still use the word “lifestyle” referring to gay people. It’s not a lifestyle any more than heterosexuality. It’s not a choice. Belonging to a country club is a lifestyle. Being emo or goth is a lifestyle. Rodeo is a lifestyle.
