Dude, thank you so much for this playlist, got my 2020 STI, started from upgrading the sound first, finally got it perfectly balanced and sounds incredible, took me 3 months to get it to sound the way I wanted lol. Now eliminating the rattling and road noise is the next step. Wish me luck lol.

i would like them to make a factory soundproofed variant of the WRX, to make it a bit more of a multi purpose car for people who like the look. (i think they would have to use thicker windshield/window glass too ?)

also, regarding your speakers. A big reason the VA chassis WRX/STI speakers are so atrocious is due to the stock head unit giving minimal power to the oem speakers. Id recommend buying an aftermarket headunit like an andriod secaine unit before making any changes to the door speakers.

A few others have said the same thing. It’s definitely on my todo list in the near future

Yea I bypassed this by getting a DSP while keeping the OEM head unit ( ended up costing as much as a head unit lol) But sooo worth it.

Disappointed to hear it doesn't do much to audio quality. I recently got into listening to hi-res flac format music. While STI is best bang for the buck the sound deadening is much needed to actually enjoy high quality music on the go.

Subaru Trying to build it light. I’ve just ordered sound detonating material, and upgraded speakers. Will start with doors and move to truck and floors later on for sound detonating
@CarModGuy3 жыл бұрын
That’s probably what they say. I’m ok with no sound deadening material but please Subaru just end the rattling.

When/Where did you use the Siless Liner that you have linked? I want to attempt this soon but I didn't know why you linked that product. Thanks for such an awesome channel and such a helpful series!

Thanks! I purchased that for the roof...didn't get a chance to install it yet and not 100% sure if I'll actually do it yet.

100% doing this in my 2018 wrx. Spending all this money to make my $20k economy car a $40k luxury car 😄

I wish I had the time to sound proof! Especially 2015-2017 STis, they have less sound deadening than the 2018+.
@CarModGuy4 жыл бұрын
If you do it in sections it’s manageable. You don’t have to do the whole car right away. One door each weekend, then the trunk can be spaced out over a couple of weekends, rear seat and finally the floor. Tbh if I wasn’t filming, the floor would have been done in 4-5 hours tops.

Think this sucks, I would gladly pay and pay well for someone to do this to my 2006 STI. As I’ve gotten older, I’m over loud unless it’s the turbo noise or the exhaust. This car is a headache to drive, but it’s too nice to sell. So someone, please, do this to my STI? Haha.

It gave off the smell the first 3-4 days. It’s completely gone now

How much weight did it add? They didn't do it for a reason.
@CarModGuy4 жыл бұрын
50 to 55 lbs. That’s negligible weight. Each RattleTrap roll was 22.5 lbs. They didn’t do it because it doesn’t fall into the luxury brand. It doesn’t have to fall into that brand to feel like a quality build. Not sure if you own a 2015+ WRX or STi but I can tell you that majority of the people experience the same issues.
@derekrobertson95834 жыл бұрын
@@CarModGuy I recall a Subaru engineer taking about it being about weight savings back when i was researching them. But I do have a 2018 which another comment mentioned it being better than the 2015-2017 models. Idk how true that is. But I'd be happy to get 55lbs off mine. To each his own but I'd rather not be able to hear my wife! Lol🤣

If you look at some of my other videos, you’ll see some of the details that they didn’t engineer properly. For example, the plastic behind the rear seat... you can see that they attempted to improve the quality by adding some material to the plastic edges. After some time those pieces deteriorate and they start to vibrate. Mine is a 2019 btw.
@K03sport4 жыл бұрын
Cost is the main issue. Weight is negligible, especially when it's 3-4% or less of the car's weight. Solid inner doors would help a lot.
