@@alecm2721 is possible to put UEL headers on a WRX?
@rainyfields
@rainyfields 3 жыл бұрын
@@silent_chill_4751 Yes, Tomei makes UEL headers for the FA engine. You loose HP, torque, and MPG and basically all the benefit of the twin scroll turbo with them. If that doesn't bother you, go ahead. If you want a WRX that sounds like an EJ, you should really get the STI or an older WRX instead (they are cheaper and look better anyways imo), it does seem a bit silly to make the FA engine worse in every way just to make it sound better... though that lack of rumble *is* the only reason I would never buy a newer WRX lol.

@@rainyfields yea I decided to just keep the headers stock, its a shame Subaru got rid of the iconic sound on the FA, but it is what it is
@jamesleithren3241
@jamesleithren3241 3 жыл бұрын
@Adam West the difference is in the headers, the sti motor (ej) is different than the wrx motor(fa) the ej comes with unequal length headers from factory while the fa20 comes with equal length headers. Unequal length headers are less efficient but gives it that really low growl or rumble, equal length headers are more efficient and give a more consistent “even” tone

I had a WRX, but the sound of the STI was what made me buy the STI at the end of 2017. Long live the rumble! It's a category in cars by itself with that. Is the reason why the Type-R disappeared from the question when I was purchasing the car. The STI is an awesome car. I love it and the sensation it returns to the driver it's years light ahead of the WRX that I had. I will never buy a twin scroll turbo again. If STI loses the rumble I'll keep mine until one of us die. It's incredible that having developed something as good as that sound Subaru numbed the WRX. Ferrari doesn't offer manual transmission anymore and sells, but to me, a 512 TR or the 355 Berlinetta manuals would be the ones. I prefer a Porsche 911 Turbo from the '90s to the current one. The last 911R is "the" recent Porsche to me. That to give perspective on my choice. The STI is not the fastest car in its group but to me is the one that delivers happiness to the driver unlike no other.

The STI iconic boxer rumble is the only thing I miss from my wrx wagon. I'd be in heaven if my FA WRX sounded like the STI in the video. The closest I've come to an original Subaru rumble on my WRX is the Grimmspeed Catless J pipe to a non resonated Invidia R400 catback. Deep and basey, heavy drone and very minimal rasp.

Twig the muffler only changes the volume of the exhaust note. Its the headers and amount of cylinders that change its tone. In this case, the STi runs unequal length headers which are known for making cars rumble, doesnt matter what car theyre on. The WRX runs equal length headers like every other car you seebon the road, making it slightly higher pitched like those cars.

Nice video, both cars sound good but I really feel like this video was made for FA owners to be able to sleep better at night. I mean you even mentioned the STI owner thinks the FA sounds "weird" there is a reason one is 10 grand cheaper. In reality though the 2.0 sounds weak even for a boxer, regardless which exhaust but I would take a FA over a shit ass BRZ anyday. Hands down the EJ sounds way more beefy. Don't get me wrong I'm all for loving whatever car you own but for that neck breaking raw Subaru sound comes from an EJ not a FA no matter how hard you try or whoever's STI trunk you swapped with. People that went the FA route spends countless internet hours trying to justify why they bought a FA over an EJ and no matter how much money you dump into your FA or how much faster you make the FA over the EJ. It will never hold the EJ title or sound.

The brz has an FA tho... so you would rather take an FA over a brz makes no sense unless you say a turbo’d FA over a N/A FA...

That STi had no exhaust setup, basically. If he had added a dp + tune & intake. He could get those pops. Even just a tune for it without adding other mods. My wrx pops and bangs without a downpipe or tune. Just running a catback with a CAI.
