1:58 2:26 if the roundabout is two-lanes thick, what makes slip lanes worth the added encouragement of unsafe driving? Roundabouts do not need slip lanes to be effective. Riparian, pedestrian-bike, and native relation improvements are great!

This is a great project for this area. But if we're going to build toll roads, let's consider building the Evergreen State Turnpike - to run the route that has been discussed for years as I-605, from Chehalis to Mount Vernon. But please, if this ever gets built, use human toll takers, or credit/debit card gates, or standardize Good To Go with EZPass so that out-of-staters don't get gouged for using it, or else they won't, and I-5 will continue to be jammed.

Just ridiculous that they're going to toll that road with all that we paid in gas taxes and all that we paid for light rail that we will never get to have access to. 😢

Just my opinion, respect to everyone working on this tolled project, but toll roads are unethical. More reason why Washington state has the most regressive tax system in the nation. Never forget when Washington state and WSDOT had people vote to allow tolling of the new Narrows Bridge with the promise that the toll funds would be to pay for the new bridge, only to adjust the law so the toll profits would divert to the general state transportation fund. This new project, as stated by the WSDOT, is mainly to benefit corporations like Amazon, so they can have quicker access between their warehouses and the port. Washington state will continue to prioritize corporate interests rather than the interest of the citizens of its state. Sure they'll build an underutilized "shared use path" and make some "native" wetlands but that's just a smokescreen to placate the population and puyallup tribe.
@gioslost4 ай бұрын
Wrong. Amazon doesn’t do a lot of volume from the port down 167. It does it down I-5 to Lacey.
@randalllewis4485Ай бұрын
Actually, a Federal court ruled that Washington couldn't continue to collect tolls for the Narrows Bridge beyond the construction of the bridge which was the purpose for which the bonds were sold. There would be nothing illegal about selling bonds for maintenance of a bridge if that was part of legislative or public approval at the time the bonds were sold.

hopefully, this can give local governments more cover to make their streets more people-oriented?
@pjt38879 күн бұрын
Actually we do because most of us are spending and losing 2 to 3 hours of our lives sitting in traffic every single day which in fact is creating more pollution. Versus having a far more direct route that people can access so they can carve off that time turn off the car and since more and more people are going electric the pollution issue isn't quite as grand as it once was..

@@pjt3887 unfortunately, cars are really inefficient with usage of space, so if you make enough lanes so everyone can get where they need to quickly, there will be little left in your town or city besides all those lanes. Not to mention, building all those lanes covers up a lot of land that could be used by people or ecosystems, and produces lots of carbon in the process if you want to reduce traffic without bulldozing the whole county, try some fast trains that get people to common destinations with a lot less land and traffic (for shorter trips, bicycles and streetcars can help, and watch the highway traffic evaporate like a puddle in the Sahara
