Amazing model and review ! The only "gripe" I have with it is the fact that the counterweight cannot be removed. WSI has produced just 3 "large" excavators to date; the Hitachi Zaxis 870, the Liebherr R970 SME, and now this Volvo piece. Of the three....only WSI's first excavator model (large or small), the ZX 870 had a removable counterweight. I believe that is what made that particular piece such a popular choice with collectors. The R970 has been around for a few years now, and still is readily available. That would tell me (short of some sort of problem with over production) that it did not sell nearly as well as the ZX 870; despite an almost identical grade in the areas of durability and detail. Which leaves functionality as the only difference. The ZX 870 not only was lacking the removable counterweight; it also didn't have a removable bucket ! These features make a bid difference to collectors. At-least the EC950E has the removable bucket. However, an added removable counterweight would have taken this model into the elite status of O scale die-cast excavators....along with the CCM CAT 385's. 390's, and 349's, the WSI ZX 870, the NZG Hitachi 1000 demolition excavator models, and my favorite....the Conrad R960 excavator with demolition boom + stand.
