The concrete filled erosion control matting was around ~35 years ago when i started out as a civil engineer. It was very popular at the time until a few years later it was realised that the UV sunlight breaks down the matting and the unreinforced concrete would break away in chunks. I've seen thousands of square metres of this stuff having to be replaced. I can't believe someone is trying to pass this off as new technology.

We're in a world now where the rate of claims has far exceeded our ability to vet them. Though I clicked, I don't have time to find out whether gravel-filled tire roads hold up to their physical demands; there are things to do today.

@@pocket83 The fun really starts that this is also true for @dazb3459 's comment. Who's to say that he is telling the truth? On another Video someone may say the same about the video but then it maybe the other way around. The video is true and the commenter is a troll. Or both are trolls. Or both could hold some truth depending on interpretation. Put even 1000 native english speakers in a room you will have people not understanding each other. The internet is filled with people (like me) where English is only their secondary language. Every claim, every stated fact and everything that is being said is nearly impossible to determine what is true and what isn't.
@pocket83squaredАй бұрын
@@AndreasHenschel-c1y You said a mouthful. The present political polarization is one manifestation of this lack of truth you're talking about. Every video now seems to have a box of parrots for commenters; there is no dissent, no nuance. There is now only the correct lens to see through, and every other perspective is necessarily wrong. Every suggestion, every idea, every claim, no matter how strange or detached from reality, no matter its origin, now has equal footing to run tentatively unchecked and immune to all criticism. As the King of Pennsylvania, I find this disturbing.

The first construction method is what we call reinforced concrete and the reality is that it is useless, since the entire building is made of a single piece of concrete and cannot even withstand a screw or nail being put into the walls, as the walls crack. Therefore, companies make you sign a document in which they do not allow you to make any modifications or put a nail in the walls until the guarantee period of the structure ends.

All modern building methods are about one thing, profit. Nothing revolutionary about gouging builders, with high cost of materials and useless codes & inspections that will only give you a 5 year warranty. Garbage. Old world building methods are the only thing anyone should invest in.

Where the plastic becomes part of the structure think of it as sequestering carbon. That's a big point in favor of systems of interlocking blocks make of heavy-duty dense foam.

One of these ideas or something similar might be used to build an better sand bar for more more surfable waves. Since the development of Long Beach Harbor and Dana Point Harbor, there has not been one project developed for the purpose of making better waves for people to surf. That Hydro Tech idea or something similar using sand in burlap bags or what ever could be the basis to make better waves. They build skate parks, ski lifts, all kinds of thing why not a better sand bar?

Manufacturing concrete is BAD for the environment; use of concrete should be minimized. This video almost seems like an advertisement for concrete. Those insulation panels being made of HDPE makes them suitable for use on Mars (if we ever manage a colony) because HDPE is a great radiation-blocker! Just BTW, there are at least two different processes that can turn old tires back into oil. There are also interlocking blocks that are made of dense styrofoam; their use is far better for the environment because their manufacture is far environmentally friendly than that for concrete. My favorite is the flex-brick; I've done several brick driveways by hand and those sheets of brick would make it SO much easier! Finally -- you missed one that I don't know the name for: it's a high-strength plastic net that goes onto the ground and gets covered with crushed rock, and then is folded back over the top, holding the rock in place. Smaller crushed rock goes on top, and then another layer can be added. It's great for roads that run along hillsides because the exposed edges can be made to conform to the topography, and once covered with gravel, wood chips, and dirt so that vegetation can grow the result is a natural-looking hillside.
