I cried watching this. I’m not American, I wasn’t alive when Bush senior was in the White House and I’m not a father. Like many others have said, I rarely cry at anything… but I cried because it served as a reminder that no matter your background, your career or your creed, we are still human. The sense of love and compassion in this speech is a bit overwhelming, but I commend George W. Bush for showing the world that despite everything that they’ve both witnessed in their lives, they clearly made so much time for each other and meant the world to one another. The charisma, humour and energy conveyed in this speech is like little else I’ve seen recently - the words we say don’t matter half as much as the way we convey them.

Incorrect. People make mistakes, and as president, a mistake can often be much costlier and much more public. Had Trump assumed the same role during the same time, I’m sure things wouldn’t be different. George W Bush was agreeably, a pretty bad president, but he was honest and kind, and when it comes down to being a person, that’s really all that matters. Please do not let his bad decisions get in the way of this beautiful speech, at least he tries to serve his country and has good intentions.

We all miss our father, when our father dies, we ... i don't know, man, there are no words .... I just know what G.W.Bush felt when he broke at the end of the speech. I did the same when my father died, and I think the break down is because at that moment he, I, anyone else, fully felt and realized that their father is no more. He told his father story, because the father's story is rarely said, most children do not know who or what their fathers were and did. The father's story needs to be told too.

Similar were the feelings for Saddam and his wife when Uday and Qusay (their sons) were killed by US forces. And the same would have been felt by Raghad, Rana and Hala (Saddam's daughters) when their father was hung. All of this due to George Bush's stupid and foolish decision to invade Iraq on the pretext of democracy, without thinking of the chaos that would follow. If you wish to say that Saddam was a killer, isn't George Bush one too ? Sending US troops to kill Uday and Qusay, and US soldiers raping young women and murdering entire families, how's that even justified ?

I live in Kennebunk. I used to see President Bush around a lot. He and Barbara used to sneak away from his Secret Service escort in an old beaten up white Honda they borrowed from their housekeeper to go to the Kennebunk Inn or Boulongerie for lunch. A stupid neighborhood cat often lays down right in the middle if the street in the Summer when its hot. I watched one day from the top of my roof, where I was paining, as the Bushes drove down the street, stopped at the cat, which refused to move and then waited. The cat, still refusing to move and the Bushes, unwilling to beep their horn and disturb the quiet neighborhood, waited and waited and then President Bush got out of the car, scooped up the cat, petting him and calling him an " idiot cat" and placed the cat in the middle of a yard. Then they drove off. I heard Barbara say out the windiw, " make sure its safe, George" and he said, " yes dear". Its the stuff you do when you don't think anybody is watching that shows your character. I watched him pick up a lot if trash off the beaches in the morning too as he was out walking his dogs. God Speed Sir and rest well. I am going to miss you.

I think this is the greatest eulogy I've ever heard. I don't care about politics or who's right or wrong. This is just great writing and a great speech from a man who loved his father. RIP

A son giving a beautiful eulogy. That's all. I don't understand any negative dislikes. Most everyone will grieve the loss of their parents. I lost my husband 12 years ago, followed by my dad 5 months later, then my beloved mother 7 months later. It was a rough time but life goes on and my hope is to make them proud of me.

You do know we have still no idea why they disliked the video? Therefore there is yet no evidence to prove these people were "bitter".
