You know, I really liked to see and hear this interview. Carter is not one of my favorite presidents, but he really has my respect. Harry Truman ( Carter's favorite president) used to say he was going to run for president again when he turned 90, now its Carter's turn to say he'll run again! There is no age limit to the presidency only term limits to two or no more than 10 years if the President in office succeeded to an unfinished term. Carter having served one whole term and losing re-election in1980 always had the door open for another run and still does but I think he'll continue to think better of it. Technically though, the door is still open for him as much as it was for Grover Cleveland in 1892 and as much as it is open for Trump in 2024! Agree or disagree with any of them, they are our presidents and we can be proud of all of them who served our country in the highest office in the land. I would like to be president of the United States one day, probably wont happen but I have a right to aspire, I did run for Congress! Speaking of faith, it is, as the writer of Hebrews says, "the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen"(Hebrews 11:1). Her is a quote from President Carter's 1977 inaugural address: " Let us learn together and laugh together and work together and pray together, confident that in the end we will triumph together in the right." Hail to the Chief!

@@blackout07blue 12/2/23 now, and I've only just seen your post. Along w/ many, I suspect, I did know of Pres. Carter's vote for Sen. Sanders in 2016. I'm very glad you mentioned that history. President JImmy and senior Senator Bernie share so many of the superior qualities greatly needed in our most significant leaders. An Illinois native, 85 now, I first learned of Sanders from an August 1963 Chicago newspaper photo showing a policeman "helping" a slight young man to the ground for marching against segregation. Photo still available on You Tube as "Bernie and Civil Rights in Chicago." The NAACP got him out of jail the next day. and--within days--he took a bus to DC for MLK's historic March for Jobs and Freedom and (forever memorable "I Have a Dream " speech). All too soon, Bernie was a speaker at the April 2018 50th commemoration in Atlanta of MLK's assassination. Bernie is as strong as ever working for the issues most important to me, including civil, economic, gender, racial and social justice...and peace. He has proven his support for All of Us over many decades. I wish/hope he would/will consider now being our nominee for POTUS again. I would work, hard, for him, again, and I believe many, many others would, too! One poster wrote, "Third time's the charm." I hope so. I see no other who wants to be POTUS in 2024 who brings the combination of experience, skill and heart that Sanders has. #NotMeUs.

This man has fought off a maligned presidency and cancer to become one of the great american icons of the last century. At age 94 he clearly has all his faculties functioning far better than many who are mch younger. He is writing books and still active in charitable work. He has done more positive work in post-presidential life than all other ex-presidents have done. A very intelligent, kind, clearly loving and truly inspirational gentleman. Thank you for gracing the world's stage with your presence Mr Carter. Live long and prosper.

@Laika24102007 I do have to research on Carter before I say anything about him, but Regan was a piece of shit. Started the second wave of mass incarceration by importing drugs from South America, spreading them through the African American community that began declining from the loss of jobs during shutdowns of their factories without any way of replacing said jobs, began the war on drugs by making sure the drugs primarily used by the African Americans (Crack= 1 year per rock) would send even USERS to prison for more than 30-40 years. Had plans to abolish unions to put extra money in his pocket and leave corrupt business owners and managers to mistreat their workers. Supported Margret Thatcher to do the exact same (she was successful). Left military veterans with no plans for healthcare and financial stability after leaving the military. Reagan was an evil son of a bitch. So Jimmy Carter is probably better anyway.

Number 45 Donald Trump was sharper than the last 4 presidents and the present one by a huge difference. Dude has accomplished way more and has made more wealth than the other Elitist globalist puppet presidents combined. It's exactly why the media is scripted by the elites to hate him because he does it the way the American people want it and the elites hate him for it and the 🐑 sheep people who haven't got a brain follow suit along with the fake ass news which is owned by only 5 corporations pushing nothing but BS propaganda. It's amazing how people still exist that can't see how unfairly Trump was treated and they believe the lies told about him. The fake news will have you hating those who fight for your freedom and adoring those who take it away from you. People need to do their research cause everything from the beginning was all lies fabricated to sabotage Donald Trump and his administration from doing what the American people wanted him to do.

@@jordan-di8kp Jimmy is a TRUE Christian in EVERY sense of the word, unlike others I know of who preach it, but don't always back it up as he does. I rather listen to 39 than 45; 45 needs to listen to the man, JAMES EARL CARTER JR.❤ Trump🖤 sold his soul to the Devil😈 years ago and will burn in HELL🔥 while Jimmy gets a one-way ticket to HEAVEN🕊👼 for all the great things he has done in his life by serving the public (Habitat for Humanity, teaching Sunday School, writing, eradicating infectious diseases) with Roslynn❤ at his side. If Lillian Carter❤, Jimmy's mother, was still alive, she would have had harsh words for Trump and would have told it like it was, that he is a crook, a liar, and a thief and not fit to run the country. I remember when she said harsh things about Ayatollah Khomeini during the Iran crisis, and she had every right to. You did not want to mess with Lillian, where her family was concerned. I know that Lillian would have been very proud of Jimmy for the way he has handled his post-presidency, and as he is in hospice care😥, he is finally receiving the accolades he should have had long ago before he passes away. Our country deserves better because we are the standard bearers of democracy, but when we have people like Trump and his cronies, trampling on everyone who doesn't agree with him while tearing families and friends apart, that is not democracy,. Our country was founded on the principles of freedom that was hard-won, not to mention by a group of men with diverse backgrounds with a common goal, and that it was to not be ruled by kings or queens, but BY the People and FOR the People. Yes, it's flawed, but its principles stand, and everyone should reeducate themselves on the Constitution, the Amendments, and the Bill of Rights. I think everyone needs to start looking at themselves first before we can have TRUE democracy. That's my two cents....

@@jordan-di8kp Trump was sharper than Obama, Bush and Clinton? I would like to take the drugs you are taking. Trump is such a dumpsterfire as a person and as a person who held office. He only had one thing that passed - tax cuts. Tax cuts for the wealthy stay forever (until another law), but tax cuts for the working class that will expire (have expired).

@@jordan-di8kpGreat comment. Trump is not a nice man, but he’s a great president. Nobody ever hired trump for the job because of his impeccable table manners if you will, we hired him because he’s just a man, yet he’s done great things. The country flourished under him and history usually doesn’t remember controversy’s well, so I’m almost positive he will go down as one of the greatest presidents in the 21st century in 100 years. A true American statesman. So good in fact that the establishment tried to label him as ineffective. The fact is, he navigated our country through some turbulent air, almost all of which was dropped in his lap. Perhaps most impressive is what he’s done after his presidency. Literally helping to build homes with his own hands in his partnership with Habitat for Humanity. Also having the balls to call Israel an apartheid state when few American politicians are willing to stand up to lobbyists. Such a national treasure.

My first time voting in a Presidential election and I voted for Carter. I remember the solar panels placed on the White House and his mission for the US to not be dependent on foreign oil. But Americans didn’t like “pay more, use less” and gas lines were long and sometimes violent. This man is admirable, a leader that didn’t resort to bullying and boy we could use someone like him.

Then, as now, Americans by and large are easily swayed by charlatans, pimps, and the feckless. The Carters were honest, humble, faith-filled, and hard working, so Republican's called them weak, silly and uninfluential on the world stage. The subterfuge was believed--hook, line and sinker. Reagan, like Trump, was all show and absolutely no substance. Carter's team successfully negotiated the terms for release of the hostages, but Regan's team went behind their backs and got the Iranians to hold off on the release until Regan was sworn into office a few days later. Reagan then claimed that the Iranians were so fearful of him that they decided on their own to release the hostages and avoid tangling with "one tough hombre." American's believed that nincompoop's rhetoric. 🤨🙄😒 I cringe when I see supporters of Trump paint Biden with negative lies grounded in nothing close to reality. With a bit of luck, I won't live long enough to see the mass amnesia for Biden's presidency and character that grips the nation today with the passing of Mrs. Carter.
