The greatest thing I seen Jimmy do Carter was snubbed the Clinton's at Obama’s inauguration 😂
@AnthonyCatella
@AnthonyCatella 3 жыл бұрын
You know, I really liked to see and hear this interview. Carter is not one of my favorite presidents, but he really has my respect. Harry Truman ( Carter's favorite president) used to say he was going to run for president again when he turned 90, now its Carter's turn to say he'll run again! There is no age limit to the presidency only term limits to two or no more than 10 years if the President in office succeeded to an unfinished term. Carter having served one whole term and losing re-election in1980 always had the door open for another run and still does but I think he'll continue to think better of it. Technically though, the door is still open for him as much as it was for Grover Cleveland in 1892 and as much as it is open for Trump in 2024! Agree or disagree with any of them, they are our presidents and we can be proud of all of them who served our country in the highest office in the land. I would like to be president of the United States one day, probably wont happen but I have a right to aspire, I did run for Congress! Speaking of faith, it is, as the writer of Hebrews says, "the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen"(Hebrews 11:1). Her is a quote from President Carter's 1977 inaugural address: " Let us learn together and laugh together and work together and pray together, confident that in the end we will triumph together in the right." Hail to the Chief!

@Laika24102007 I do have to research on Carter before I say anything about him, but Regan was a piece of shit. Started the second wave of mass incarceration by importing drugs from South America, spreading them through the African American community that began declining from the loss of jobs during shutdowns of their factories without any way of replacing said jobs, began the war on drugs by making sure the drugs primarily used by the African Americans (Crack= 1 year per rock) would send even USERS to prison for more than 30-40 years. Had plans to abolish unions to put extra money in his pocket and leave corrupt business owners and managers to mistreat their workers. Supported Margret Thatcher to do the exact same (she was successful). Left military veterans with no plans for healthcare and financial stability after leaving the military. Reagan was an evil son of a bitch. So Jimmy Carter is probably better anyway.

My first time voting in a Presidential election and I voted for Carter. I remember the solar panels placed on the White House and his mission for the US to not be dependent on foreign oil. But Americans didn’t like “pay more, use less” and gas lines were long and sometimes violent. This man is admirable, a leader that didn’t resort to bullying and boy we could use someone like him.

@@blackout07blue 12/2/23 now, and I've only just seen your post. Along w/ many, I suspect, I did know of Pres. Carter's vote for Sen. Sanders in 2016. I'm very glad you mentioned that history. President JImmy and senior Senator Bernie share so many of the superior qualities greatly needed in our most significant leaders. An Illinois native, 85 now, I first learned of Sanders from an August 1963 Chicago newspaper photo showing a policeman "helping" a slight young man to the ground for marching against segregation. Photo still available on You Tube as "Bernie and Civil Rights in Chicago." The NAACP got him out of jail the next day. and--within days--he took a bus to DC for MLK's historic March for Jobs and Freedom and (forever memorable "I Have a Dream " speech). All too soon, Bernie was a speaker at the April 2018 50th commemoration in Atlanta of MLK's assassination. Bernie is as strong as ever working for the issues most important to me, including civil, economic, gender, racial and social justice...and peace. He has proven his support for All of Us over many decades. I wish/hope he would/will consider now being our nominee for POTUS again. I would work, hard, for him, again, and I believe many, many others would, too! One poster wrote, "Third time's the charm." I hope so. I see no other who wants to be POTUS in 2024 who brings the combination of experience, skill and heart that Sanders has. #NotMeUs.

America should not be the policeman of the world we are in agreement about that. America World Police was a comedy illustrating your point which is the same as mine. We shouldn't be the world police (and we have been).! No President is a super hero and history is a lot more complex. Many blacks owned African slaves in early America, so did many native American tribes- they could have been humanitarians in other aspects. It's not black and white. White people have enslaved whites and all races throughout history and the same goes for black, brown, yellow and red (esp. all through-out North and South America): peeps enslaving their own race and other races. I'm sure you are shades of grey like the rest of us. But if you want to spend your life in outraged bluster you're free to do so. I'd call it hypocrisy and in my case definitely preaching to the choir.

He's a genuine American, served country in military and white house and governor of Georgia. He doesn't keep bragging about everything he did, a humble human being, a true patriot! Too bad he is the last of that generation of humble hard working Americans. The Trump generation is the exact opposite of what Carter generation represents.

@Thomas Jeffries "Trickle Down Economics" was coined by the left. (Jesus said the goats will be gathered on the left and the sheep on the right, I do't think it is coincidence because the democrat platform is kill babies and define the sanctity of marriage for the abominable homosexuals that's where the real evil lies.) The huge deficits were created by the welfare state, and social democrat spending with uncontrollable spending and embezzlement by democrat senators and congressmen, that's what spending money allocated for one thing on another is called. AND your messianic Hussein Obama created more deficit than all the other presidents combined. Jimmy Carter had gas prices in the 70's at $2.00/gallon, and the democrats held congress and senate during Carter's presidency, and Ronald Reagan's time in office as well, and despite the tax and spend nazi socialism that democrat's were still trying to use Reagan was able to pull us out of a recession, and gas prices dropped. Just like now under Donaldus Trumpus! The U.S. is now for the first time a net exporter of energy, and gas prices dropped since Hussein Obama, who didn't know what he was doing in office, "If you want your doctor you can keep your doctor!" Lies, lies, lies...

40 years ago I thought Jimmy Carter was "out of his depth" as a president. It seemed as though the U.S. had Mr Rogers in the Oval Office when we needed someone a bit tougher. Nowadays, I long for his ideas of putting people first when making important decisions. I long for a president who thinks human rights are as important or even more important than corporate rights.
