i only need to add the set bell-style none in /etc/inputrc to disable the sound from the shell. i still need the sound to work in windows tbh

you might just have saved my mental equilibrium. why microsoft doesnt address this is beyond me. just shows none of them ever Q.A. or uses their product. Anyone with just 5 min in WSL should have done something about it before release, at leats change the f'ing defaults.

My guess is that they having on by default is that the people who might want it may not know it's available and the people who don't want it will quickly find out how to disable it.

this is when I'm editing /etc/inputrc in vim. I do :wq to write to disk and quit.
