How can I run a playbook on a new VM i cloned by default? I.e every time i clone a VM from a template, the startup script will install ansible, pull an ansible repo from github, and run the playbook locally?
@iKn-ft2bc6 ай бұрын
i didn quite get where to intall terraform and ansible. so terraform runs inside a containter and ansible too right? so it comunicates with the proxmox host?
@DanSheffner6 ай бұрын
Yes you are correct both ansible/terraform was installed in a ubuntu virtual machine running on the proxmox server to bootstrap this process. Semaphore is also installed all on the same host. Then you can use the backup service of proxmox to take snapshots of this virtual machine. Let me know if you have more questions and thanks for watching. :)

you might just have saved my mental equilibrium. why microsoft doesnt address this is beyond me. just shows none of them ever Q.A. or uses their product. Anyone with just 5 min in WSL should have done something about it before release, at leats change the f'ing defaults.

Nice video. There's a -w flag though for ps_mem.py, and you can simply use it to repeat the command every 'n' seconds: ps_mem.py -w 3 The problem is that this won't give you the date-tagged file that you've used here, but if all you need to do is to manually watch the memory usage for a bunch of processes, then it at least allows you to see things get updated in real-time.

how do you "write that out"?

this is when I'm editing /etc/inputrc in vim. I do :wq to write to disk and quit.

From line-4 to line-29, you have info about the License and copyrights. I was wondering is there a standard way as per PEP-8 to write the authorship and metadata info.
@DanSheffner Жыл бұрын
I don't think pep-8 has too many recommendations about the license banner. For my newest projects I create LICENSE file in the git repo and then leave it out of the files for a cleaner repo. Here is an example: github.com/thesheff17/tf_examples/ github.com/thesheff17/tf_examples/blob/main/LICENSE With this LICENSE file I assume all files in this repo are under the GPL license.

dude, thanks, but if you're making a kind of a tutorial, you would want to cover various issues. The virtualenvwrapper doesn't install, error gets raised of File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/setuptools/command/easy_install.py", line 657, in easy_install raise DistutilsError(msg) distutils.errors.DistutilsError: Could not find suitable distribution for Requirement.parse('pbr')

Are there any advantages to running Docker on Windows rather than Linux?
@DanSheffner3 жыл бұрын
Most prefer linux and then docker. Windows might support other things like windows inside docker but I haven't seen this used much. One thing I'm interested in is docker dev environments. I really like the idea of doing all work in a self contained setup that can run on any device. I would say this is still pretty fragmented development across mac, windows, and linux devices.

haha lots of random mistakes when you do stuff live. Can't win them all. I have a 3700x and I use scp/ssh not winscp. :)
