Because he wouldnt have been called on river. Any ace would have given mizrachi a better boat so safe choice just to check. Mizrachi checked to get hashem to bet it was just a bad river card for hachem.

@@williampeoples7413 it took me an overnight sleep to come to this spot on analysis. Got caught up in the moment with the announcers. Hachem probably even folds to a value bet on the river. Playing 1C tomorrow, MCO to LAS right now. GL all.

To let Hachem bluff. From Grinders perspective it is more likely that Hachem has a flush draw that missed than him having an Ace. it was a limped pot, Hachem would raise most Aces on the button so there are not a lot in his range. If Grinder jams he is only getting chips from an Ace. If he checks, K high flush draws or something like 3 5 of spades may bet, Aces will still bet anyway.

The only weird part of that Mizrachi-Hachem hand was that Hachem didn't bet the turn. Hachem clearly missed value on the turn by not betting his sixes full when Mizrachi's raise on the flop most likely represents a high Ace or 4s full (ace-4 less likely due to the under the gun limp). Maybe he thought Mizrachi was messing about on the flop and once he checked it looked like he was giving up and he wanted to give him more rope but given Mizrachi is short stacked it seems less likely he would be messing around. In any case, he got lucky that he didn't bet the turn given Mizrachi makes quads on the river. The check at the end makes perfect sense cos he now loses to the hand that Mizrachi is most likely to have in that spot (ie. The ace) and isn't getting called by worse!
