Giorgi’s speed around the court is IMPRESSIVE. Watching her this week was incredible!

As strong as her ground-strokes are, her court speed is just as impressive. It makes it very difficult to hit winners against her and it also helps her return of serve. Her court speed is right there with Halep and Gauff. Because of her style of play, she was always an unforced error machine that kept her from reaching the top. Lately, she has dramatically improved and doesn't seem to be going for winners on every shot. When everything is clicking, she can play with anyone.

Gosh - she is a joy to watch as a tennis player. Not just because she is attractive, but because her game is gorgeous. She has all the shots, and she glides like a cat. And her humility and shyness are to be admired as well.

She hits like Andre Agassi at his prime. Such clean strokes from both wings. Such quick take-back, torso coiling and then uncoiling. She likely hits the ball harder than any male or female player if you account for her body mass. And poise and modesty on court. I've waiting for 10 years to see her win a major tournament. So delighted for her.
@DiscountBrainSurgery
@DiscountBrainSurgery 3 жыл бұрын
@@Cla_Disney Yes, in her past losses, she succumbed to errors and poor shot selection. Often, she'd hit a hard shot right into her opponents strike zone which enabled her opponent to simply redirect her power back to the open court on her side. If she developed a slice backhand and a patient game such as Angelique Kerber's game, Camila would contest the top 10 in WTA.

Camila who was ranked 78 coming in the tournament defeated Mertens ranked 16, Podoroska ranked 38, Kvitova ranked 12, Gauff ranked 24, Pegula ranked 30 and Pliskova ranked 6. Lost only 1 set out of 13 in the entire tournament. Has a height of 5'6, shorter than all the opponents she faced. She also hit 3 more aces than Pliskova in the final lol. Truly a GAINT-KILLER.

@@doommonger7784 Sorry but you know nothing about her story and her asphyxiating master father doesn't know anything about tennis but HAD to be her coach. Whole Italy knows that. It took her 28 years to understand she needed a real coach because she was blinded of her father's oppression....Whole Italy says sins always she has to get rid of this shady figure who instills her insecurity and wrong playing. She was N. 97 at her best moments and even out of the100 while we all' saw she wass full talented. She finally understood and we saw the incredible great result. That was one of the most impressive displays of sustained ladies tennis I have seen in a long time. I have followed Camila for years, and have always thought that she had all the talent needed to win big tourneys -- quickness, excellent serve, potent forehand -- but she always inexplicably fell short, even losing in early rounds fairly often. Two years ago, I saw her lose to Pegula in the DC CitiOpen final in disappointing straight sets. Overall, she could never find consistency. Or maybe lacked strategy. This time around, she dropped only one set in the entire tourney (to Pegula), maintained her poise, and allowed her talents to shine through. She beat tough, seasoned players too, plus the up-and-coming youngster Gauff. I am so happy for Camila. What a triumph for her, professionally and, I would guess, personally. Brava, Giorgi!!

I really like it when she won the final point, the look on her face, that was her best ever moment in Tennis. Very Happy for her. Watched her in Australian Open last week, she won 2 rounds but in third match only got going when it was too late. Looking forward to watching her next event. I really think with Womens Tennis at the moment the big tournaments are a chance for anyone to win. If Giorgi can win in Canada she can win a Grand Slam Title. I have faith. Either way That was one heck of a win.

What? She always had an aggressive style. Now she has started adding a bit of defense to her game which she badly needed, otherwise she always used to go for a winner and hence commit a ton of unforced errors. A slice backhand could potentially take her to a grandslam title I believe.

So great to see Giorgi finally win a huge tourney and delight us with an uncharacteristic but endearing and beautiful smile. She had the most deceptive ranking in the WTA before this sitting at 71 in the world and we all know she could be a top 10 caliber player with consistency like this. She's always had the talent and endurance. She looked like a world #1 out there this week and you definitely can't take any credit from her with the players she took out. Kvitova, Mertens, Gauff, Pegula, and Pliskova. All top 30 killers. I think not having her crazy father being a nuisance courtside is actually helping her as well. Great to see that he's polishing her game to be competitive enough to hang with and beat the top players. But you could always tell she was tense when he was on the sidelines. Without him being courtside, she seems much more calm and controlled whereas before she was always anxious and rushing. She should be ranked in the mid 30's with this title win now and I'm excited to see how much of a challenge she poses at the U.S. Open this year. Nobody is going to want Giorgi in the draw if she keeps playing like this. She's becoming as dangerous as we knew she always was.

She have started to play more clever and wiser, she takes her time to hit the ball and construct the point with patience, no more rushing

It's kind of hard to stay motivated, as a player, when Serena Williams owns the whole tour for so many years! Now that Williams is out of the picture, Camilla and others have a real opportunity to shine.

Since Roger Federer, I haven't seen anyone hitting the ball CONSISTENTLY aggressively... and now we have Camilla Giorgi

She has always hit the ball consistently aggressively, but all too often she hit with little saftety margin or from a poor position against the wrong balls. Hers was not a patient game.

@@ExternalInputs Yes -- that's why her success rate is low. But, then, that's why it is very very entertaining (definitely to me) to watch her. Same with Ostapenko. Same w/ Roger. Roger's success rate is lower than Novak for the same reason. I believe mental toughness comes later. Roger can't stop from being aggressive. If he had 2-handed BH, he would've always aggressively on BH side also and without slicing. As we know, it is so tough to consistently play aggressive game on BH size, due to power issues.
