Dan the Automator is immensely fond of this film, with parts of the dialogue appeared in his original Dr Octagon tracks. he also called his album "wanna buy a monkey?" after Letterman's line in this film.

This is a movie that was likely ahead of its time. Which might be the reason why it got a lot of hate. Films ahead of their time usually flop, Baseketball for example.
