When I saw this movie for the first time, I had a hard time liking it because I knew it had so many good ideas but some of them were not completely explained or they weren't well developed throughout the movie... That being said, there's some nice charm to the movie and the way it's acted (Mr. Ironside was my absolute favorite here)... I still watch this movie every once in a while.

I remember going to see Scanners at the movie when I was about six years old and when that guy's head exploded, my mother and I got up and walked out the movie theater. But I would eventually see the movie when I was a teenager.

So weird you did this now. Was watching it with my kiddo yesterday....she was completely engrossed, and her reaction to the beginning was “HOLY WOW OH MY GOD THAT WAS SO AWESOME”. Now she wants to watch the fly. I remember going to see this in the theater. That opening scene had me running up the aisle, barreling through the doors and knocking down a girl & her popcorn. I didn't care, I wasn't ready for the head explosion. 😆 Nice job with the Hawkeye reference.

I wathed this movie when I was alone at home when I was about 10 years old. It was a double session of this movie and Lifeforce. Both gave me nightmares, but at least Lifeforce gave me Mathilda May.
