Don't bullshit yourself. Colin is incredibly hit or miss with his performances. He's the actor that usually stars alongside someone better than him in execution and craft. For example, in Miss Julie and Ava, Colin was completely outshined by Jessica Chastain. Most recently in The Batman, even the most basic performances of the cast stood out more than his (and Matt's) bland rendition of The Penguin. He's a bit like the Triple H of cinema; just occupying space with bigger, more skilled stars.

The make-up in films can be arduous and long... I watched a few actors that also talked about hours spent with those make-up artists. Except for the cringe worthy scenes with Jolie, he was terrific in Alexander. Watch the best version, Alexander Revisited.

I believe his (Collin's) iteration of Total Recall would've been a lot better, if they hadn't scrapped the Mars subplot...

He just killed it in The Batman.

He had some duds at the box office which I’m sure caused his disappearance for a while. But he was awesome in The Batman. Hilarious in Horrible Bosses.
