WTF Happened to RICK MORANIS?

If you’re a child of the eighties, you’ll remember Rick Moranis. He was one of the biggest comic stars of the era, with iconic roles in GHOSTBUSTERS I & II, HONEY, I SHRUNK THE KIDS and many more. But, somewhere around the mid-nineties, Moranis seemed to drop off the map, vanishing from sight, only returning for the occasional voice role in things like Disney’s BROTHER BEAR.
In our latest edition of WTF Happened to This Celebrity, we try to figure out why Moranis seemingly abandoned his thriving Hollywood career. It turns out that Moranis simply decided to focus on things that were more important to him (family). We dig into this as well as his career origins on SCTV, where he and co-star Dave Thomas famously created the beer-swilling Canucks, Bob & Doug McKenzie, before hitting the big time with a feature film (STRANGE BREW) that remains a cult classic. From there, Moranis’ career was on fire, with him taking over for John Candy as Louis Tully in GHOSTBUSTERS, before becoming an unlikely (and famous) leading man in his own comedies, including HONEY, I SHRUNK THE KIDS (and its sequel HONEY, I BLEW UP THE KID), LITTLE GIANTS, PARENTHOOD, and more.
Do you miss Rick Moranis? Let us know in the comments!

As a kid growing up in the 90s, it's impossible to not have some type of nostalgic connection with Rick's body of work. I never really thought about how much of an impact his movies had on me. Now that I'm grown with a wife and kids, I can't even imagine what kind of strength it took for him to give us a few more gems after his wife's passing. I salute him.

The vast majority of actors are never known for anything, they end their careers not even forgotten, but completely unknown Most of the actors that do "make it" and are known are almost always known for a single role for the rest of their lives. A small handful of actors manage to be known and remembered for two roles. Almost no actors are known for more than two roles. Rick Moranis is one of those. When you think of Rick Moranis, you're equally likely to think of _Ghost Busters_ as _Honey I Shrunk the Kids_ as _Little Shop of Horrors._ He may not be an A-list celebrity and he may have retired a long time ago, but he made his mark more than most actors ever manage to. Bravo. 👏 17:07 - Peter Scolari just died three days ago. 😲 18:22 - I know right? You'd be surprised how most things that seem like a big deal tend to fade quickly with even a little bit of distance. There have been numerous times when I was stressed out about something or worried about missing something, and kept thinking about it for a while, but after just a few days, I didn't feel as much pressure and before I knew it, I didn't care about it anymore. 19:20 - Yup, the plural of "moose" is "moose", as is the singular. English is dumb. ¬_¬ 20:57 - He doesn't look like a real 68-year-old, he looks like young Rick Moranis wearing old-age makeup. 😂 20:58 - Two Canadians in a commercial for an American company with American mobile-service for Americans. 21:24 - I remember this, and I'm still baffled. Of all the people to randomly attack, WTF, of all people, attacks Rick Moranis of all people‽ It makes no friggin' sense. He's been low-profile his whole life, never had any scandal, been adorably adorable, and done nothing but give people fond memories. 22:10 - I hope after they caught that guy, that they shrunk him and stepped on him. ¬_¬

This narrator of this channel really goes for it. He's the most love him/hate him guy they have. He's like nails on a chalkboard for me, but others might adore him. His video content is the most interesting on the channel though.

Honey I Shrunk The Kids, Little Giants, GB1 and 2 were one of my favourite childhood movies (saw them all in the early 90s). One of the best. Also, my fave non mainstream movies: D.A.R.Y.L. Navigator Never-ending Story

Moranis retired from the entertainment industry in 1997 in order to raise his two children following the tragic death of his wife Ann Belsky from cancer in 1991. He took an almost two-decade absence from acting and stepped away from public life so that he could focus on being a full-time single father. thats what happened he decided to focus on his family.

love rick and miss seeing him on my screen. also just putting it out there but AD and BC aren't used anymore, I know that's what we learned when we were kids but the correct terms are B.C.E (Before Current Era) and C.E (Current Era)
