Jason didn't hit zombie mode until after "The Final Chapter"... I actually think Friday The 13TH 2009 is a good movie. Derek Mears was an incredible Jason. I've always been bummed that he didn't get another crack at playing the character. I also think the story was quite good. What the old woman said to Clay is interesting. "People around here wanna be left alone, and so does he..." It's like some of the locals knew Jason was living somewhere around the old camp. Jason keeping Whitney captive because she looks like his mother was the most interesting aspect for me. It deserves a sequel in my opinion.

I had a teacher that was friends with people in the professional critic circles at the time, and when this movie was about to come out, he told me if I wanted to go see it with him because he had a +1 invite and he was kinda embarrassed to take his girlfriend this movie. I said hell yeah. So that day I skipped school and went to the mall, the screening was 9am. You could even pick a drink (water or soda) and food (popcorn or cheese bread) for free at the entrance. Aside from us, there was only 5 other people (professional critics). Everybody laughed and enjoyed their time in the Theater, I remember one of the critics at some point screaming "THERE ARE MORE BOOBS THAN KILLS ON THIS MOVIE". Best school day skip I ever had. Though i've always been interested in how Jason managed to live so long as a kid - learn how to work generators, setup cabling, etc. I had a thought a while back that would make for an interesting reboot in that Jason survived via cannibalism (his mothers corpse) when he got really hungry and as a result turned into a territorial Wendigo - hence the strength, speed, cunning, etc. Basically a vengeful force of nature took over the boy.

I almost wish that the prologue/flashback at the beginning of the movie was handled differently. Start with the group, THEN when Wade starts telling his story, intercut it with quick flashes of that origin...so we are only seeing the sort of "mythic interpretation" of the origin, instead of presenting it as some kind of black and white, clear cut "Flashback scene" I found this to be an EXCELLENT return to the roots of the first 4 entries, it went back to basics after all of the adventures with psychics, Manhattan, Body hopping, Freddy, and space....this was legitimate return to the roots of the series and I loved it for that.

Man, I honestly still don’t get the hate! I think most of the hate came from the fact that no one was asking for a remake, everyone myself included were asking for Freddy vs Jason vs Ash, but I still loved this remake. There is always the “well that isn’t Jason” well neither is being a zombie, and also a demon, and also an unkillable force that goes to space, Jason legit evolved throughout the years so much there are many versions of Jason. The series went into such ridiculous territory, that the arguments on why they hate this film in particular became ridiculous, especially when some can sit there with a straight face and tell you that Jason takes Manhattan was their favourite one, I think most of the hate comes from Kane Hodder being passed up for the role, and everyone was just drawing strings for reasons to not like this movie. I personally was upset Kane was passed up too, but I still liked Derek Mears take on Jason Voorhees, and I still say the scariest Jason is the Jason who comes barrelling towards you at full speed fully intending to kill you. The film wasn’t the best, but you know all the other ‘Friday the 13th’ movies ain’t exactly fucking ‘Citizen Kane’ either.

I like the part 6 version. Undead monster with supernatural powers. I don't want him to draw out the deaths and torture people. He just wants them dead. There are already enough psychos in the real world to worry about. Also part 6 is the only one without nudity. It really isn't necessary. It doesn't have the same impact as back when it wasn't just a few clicks away or on our phones. I think it got a bad score because it missed checking many of the boxes the original fans wanted.

Sure, it wasn't as good as many of the old ones, but it was a decently solid slasher. I think the biggest drawback was the victims. None of them were particularly likeable. It's fine to have a few you don't like because it makes you want them to die. Big fan of this movie. Love Jason's look in the movie.

Even the baghead looked awesome. In Friday the 13th part 2, the original baghead Jason looked so goofy that I never wanted to see that awful look again. This one made it look really cool! I would have been okay with having that look for the whole movie.

I am an advertising copywriter who was part of a team that was looking for director to film a TV commercial. One of the directors we talked to was Marcus Nispel, before he helmed any movies. Nispel was all sunshine and light on our conference calls. We didn’t choose him for this particular commercial, but our agency chose him for another one. Let me just say, Nispel went beast mode on the day of the shoot and killed more people than Jason.

Wtf is the difference between remake and reboot? Im so sick of hearing them used in different contexta constantly
@mac888spectral7 Жыл бұрын
"Reboot" should be retired since they don't succeed in getting a franchise rebooted. This was the last F13, Elm Street 2010 was the last of those, RZ's Halloween had one sequel that blew the franchise all the way back to its original canon.

I view this movie as more of a reboot than a remake

Does ANYONE take Rotten Tomatoes seriously? Honest, you can ignore them and nothing of value will be lost. I grew up on this franchise and thought the remake was really good, save for the jump scare end, which came off silly and not fitting the vibe they had established. And yes, the "love" scene was epic, only rivaled by the jaw dropping, filled out brunette in part 5.

I hated that they wanted to explain things. We didn't need them. Its part of the charm.

The way it had an extended half hour opening.... They should have done that with pamela and had it a shock like theres an older woman there no one realizes is pamela then BOOM! Shes the killer! But boom, she gets killed, so BOOM jason takes over

It's baffling that it didn't get a sequel, it made a good amount of money, and Friday the 13th never had good reviews from the critics.

I know right? I wanted a sequel to this set during the winter. That could've been fun and a little different.

I love this movie, it’s got its faults sure but it along with Freddy Vs Jason are a return to glory for the franchise imo. I’ve always called it a re-amalgamation as it amalgamates the first 4 movies into 1. Which they do a better job of here than they did with A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010).

This was a great reimagining of the character & series. Has all the classic elements of F13 films & a great look for Jason. Mears did a great job! Definitely deserved a sequel! With Tommy! And I’m glad they just did the Pamala part in a flashback in the beginning

Of all the remakes/reboots we got in this era of horror. I thought this was the best.

The opening 20 min act is amazing, had they kept that quality for the whole movie, it would have been the best 13th film. But the rest of the movie is just nowhere near as good, and the characters are just so unlikeable outside of Jared and Danielle's. Derek Mears did a great job and was very menacing, but the lack of the classic music also hurt how scary he was. The film is such a mixed bag for me as a huge horror and 13th fan.

I only saw this a couple of years ago when I bought the series on blu ray (although it left out Jason Goes to Hell & Jason X so I felt ripped off), & I surprisingly enjoyed it.

The Friday the 13th remake is what the Halloween remake WANTED to be. It's honestly worth a rewatch. I really enjoyed how Jason was portrayed in this version.
@tjmack010 Жыл бұрын
I’ve always felt this was the best remake out of the big 3 (Micheal, Freddy and Jason), it summed up the first 4 movies into one which really says something about the original 4. I feel the people that hated this film is in the group of “we hate remakes just because they’re remakes”. This film is much better than the original, the 2nd had a better final girl, the 3rd isn’t much better and the 4th is the best in the series. They should have made a sequel.
@machineguncrally7020 Жыл бұрын
Your right. Nightmare and Elm street was just a copy and paste of the original, I still liked it and the actor of Freddy but its not perfect. The problem with Halloween was that they butchered the character of Michael big time every character was a POS that he would kill and the kid backstory was the worst. The only redeemable thing of that movie was the portrayal being an absolute powerhouse of a man but that wasn’t Michael. F13th was for sure the best remake of the 3.

@@machineguncrally7020 Rob Zombies "degenerated" style just does not work for Halloween. He would be great for Texas Chainsaw Massacre tho.
