What they need is a course on how to drive a bass boat. There are way too many people out there that have no idea on what these things can do and how easy it can get away from you.

Hey Phillip, Awesome comment and very True...not only take a course, but actually instructions = time on the water. I personally know kids that their grandparents and/or parents bought an $80k plus bassboat and just throw them the keys. I took the required BASS Safety Course. I felt like I was back in the 1980's (just gave my age away). This BSC is not even a bandage to what needs to be done. My 2 cents...remember, you're just one cast away...

In theory it’s great. Take a 4-6 hour on line test you have 6 months to complete the 6 lessons then the 50 multiple choice questions and 25 state questions for a total of 75. This is BASS covering their a&&. It's a smart move overall but I agree it won't stop the idiots. If one of these idiots strikes a non tournament boat and causes serious injury or death I could see BASS getting slapped with a huge civil suit. This may help them in a case like that by putting all the blame on the driver.

This has to do more with state rules than any fishing organization rules. BASS must follow state regulations to fish on State waters. All states recognize this course from what I understand

Take the course and test and let me know if a 19 year old with a 21' 250 hanging on the back of it will take the course and say, "Well. I should be more cautious on the water!" @@steveodonnell2921 - Steve, please don't feel like you're being a wise guy. I am stirring debate. The more the better. Here's just one reason why? This could have been prevented. Period. Fog. Stay safe until it lifts. The problem is it gets very emotional. VERY! I do not want any preventable accidents to happen. I've been doing this for over 30 years and have seen many avoidable accidents end badly. So, why am I doing this? To help folks think. Here is the link - Also find this comment.
