Revisiting this video almost 7 years later... god I miss TotalBiscuit.
@Kokuyous3ki3 жыл бұрын
So many new games i would love him to review... if nothing else for some fun rage moments :) But I bet he would find many of the retro fps games great fun. I've always liked how he took a decent chunk of time just to focus on the options. Especially "professional" (ie. they believe themselves to be, eg. most games media people) reviewers tend to ignore that which is horrible.
@planescaped3 жыл бұрын
@@Kokuyous3ki He covered a lot of really obscure titles that otherwise would never receive attention. And he did it in a way that made it enjoyable to watch and helpful as a critique. His untimely death really left a void.

@Kokuyous3ki3 жыл бұрын
Was it? More like it was unknown, no? Yes, 6 years passed but everyone I know who has played it said it's "best game ever" or close. Especially the enhanced version. Was it that flawed that it was underrated? Too much time passed to check I guess :)
@planescaped3 жыл бұрын
@@Kokuyous3ki It didn't sell very well initially, it did see a bit more success years later with the release of the definitive edition, but by then the damage was done and the devs who made it were basically gone. Square Enix scrambled to make a sequel after its posthumous success, but Sleeping Dogs 2 was canceled during development and the series is dead. So it was underrated definitely when it came out. It gained a bit of appreciation later, but it was too late.

@ncRustyS11 жыл бұрын
I know its an old argument (and a pretty bad one) but some people think there is such a thing as too much realism. In driving games, people want to feel like they are badass drivers, who can do anything. They don't want to skid around the corner and spin out, because it ruins the fun for them.
@BaileyCallis11 жыл бұрын
Nah, they are better in gta 5, realistic without the frustration.
@ncRustyS11 жыл бұрын
Bailey Callis Well, its just personal opinion, and everyone's is different. I, for one, like GTA 4 & 5. I play 4 if I want to have more realistic driving, and 5 for arcade driving. But, if I really want to drive realistically I will just play a simulator (which I hardly ever do).
@ncRustyS11 жыл бұрын
***** GTA 4 is not on the same level of realism as simulators, but it's more realistic than going 100+ mph and then turning just fine.
@mega1711 жыл бұрын
Because it's fun to just drive around really really fast. Nobody gives a shit about your realistic driving physics. This is an open-world game, not a racing simulator. They just want to go fast in a cool car.

TB, what you are referring to is "Keyboard Ramping". It has existed for years. Descent 3 had a setting for it for people who use the keyboard only. You set a time in milliseconds that it takes for the key to "ramp" to "maxvalue", so that it operates like a joystick input. It's just laziness on behalf of developers to exclude it.

Yeah sometimes TB was easily impressed. This thing slowly spiraled. Some parts looked ps2 quality. Too generic. There was potential but went nowhere. I'm not surprised it didn't meet sales expectations based on the quality. the story goes from deep and genuine and then just becomes dry unserious and boring. It spirals from quality to average. Nothing but something that could have been great here. It wasn't great.

When you really get the hang of shooting in the game, you will find it awesomely satisfying to slide into cover, jump over an obstacle to trigger slow-mo and then pull off headshot after headshot to keep the slow-mo going for as long as possible. Another tip: remember to aim (shift on pc) immediately after you disarm someone -- it gives you a few seconds of slow-mo time to pull off a headshot to keep yourself in bullet time. Later in the game you get some epic gunplay missions.

The reason why the anti aliasing setting uses so much resources is because it uses super sampling. The game actually runs at 4K resolution internally and then shrinks it down to fit the 1080p screen resolution. This of course makes jagged edges 4x smaller and unlike traditional MSAA it also works of textures and alpha effects like leaves, grass, smoke, shadows etc. It's a setting for high end hardware only but looks gorgeous. Maxed out I think it rivals nextgen games for graphics and gameplay

When I'm talking about handling, I mean as in how the car drives not how the car shifts weight from one side to another.
@ShadowmakersDrops11 жыл бұрын
I agree with pretty much everything you said here, the only thing I really disagreed with was just a small offhand comment about the car handling in GTA IV. After playing GTA IV I pretty much set the standard to all open world games involving vehicles to that of grand theft auto. I loved the realism of how the cars handle, that your car dosen't simply turn around corners in a fast motion. It actually spoiled this game for me, same with Just Cause 2 and the saints row series.
@Egobyte8310 жыл бұрын
I just wonder... if this game is a refined True Crime version, are the things wich made True Crime stand out still present? I know TC was kind of a mixed bag considering quality, but one thing i remember which, to my knowledge, other crime-open-world games still have failed to keep alive was the multiple ending-mission threads; how in TC streets of L.A you could continue the story down three different ways based on your choices.. that was original and awesome.

developers are usually companies contracted on fixed fee to develop a game for publishers who at the end collect all the royalties from the sales. More importantly not every download is a lost sale, due to financial restrictions or not enough interest in the product to be worth 60 usd. Think of it as a public library where everyone can take a book, copy it incompletely on xerox paper and keep it at home, but if you really like it, you will buy it anyway.

2 major points for me, while not best in class for things like gunplay or less rich than GTA V technically, Nothing in sleeping dogs feels slow or boring.. everything is fast and to the point, for me every gmeplay was also fun and i never felt the repetitiveness or had the feeling i had to do something i didn’t want to. no frustration anywhere from bugs or bad design. all that and the fact they totally nailed the feeling of hk movies from bruce lee to infernal affairs via hard boiled or police story make it a truly unique game, far far beyond any GTA-like of the poor or HK GTA designation. i enjoyed and finished GTA V or SA but never had that much uninterrupted fun with game than with SD. if you like HK movies, you owe yourself to give it a try, and under 5 bucks it’s a steal. rest in peace united front!

To action Hijack correctly, you have to have the car on your right side (the side you hang out of) and wait for the arrow to turn Green, meaning you have enough time to jump. it explains it in one of the later missions, which is pretty stupid considering its like, the 3rd to last mission in the game, but once you do it the 1st time you pretty much figure it out. its a shame you cant action Hijack a bike.

lol! I understand that, and not t mention the publicity and notoriety those game's achieved which in part helped with the production of sequels. Trust me i totally would love the idea of "one person purchased the game, then decided to share it with anyone and possibly everyone, and everything will be okay" but when someone purchases a game there is this unofficial agreement on the box that states you are the only one able to play this exact version of this game, serial keys add to that as well

Melee combat gets more difficult as you progress through the game. Complexity is rising with enemies becoming more varied and heavily armed (firearms) at times. Your character also gains new abilities along the way, so combat does indeed become somewhat equal to what you get in "Batman: Arkham City". TB wasn't as far into the game as he thought. It was still the starting scenario. "Chapter 1" or "prologue", so to say.
