You want to know what the fuck Star Conflict is? Let me tell you what it is. Star Conflict is War Thunder in space, yes. Only it's much less competently made. People joke about it being able to run on a toaster, and they aren't too far off base. But, there's some problems, three of which kill the game completely for any reasonable PC user. 1. You're arbitrarily assigned a specific range of resolutions you can set the game to. You don't get the full range, just these few resolutions that are in the same neighborhood as your monitor's native resolution. That's bullshit. Furthermore, if you drop the resolution down below the minimum you're assigned via the config file, guess what!? It doesn't help your framerate at all, which is absolute bullshit. A significant drop in resolution tends to have a proportional rise in framerate, and yet somehow these chucklefucks have managed to stupendously avoid that. 2. The AI on the bots is ridiculous. They are merciless, and they are near perfectly accurate, regardless of your skill level. They are your death. 3. The mouse controls on this game are absolutely horrid. It just feels... WRONG. 4. When you start off, every opponent is a fucking bullet sponge, and you're made of glass, making competent play little more than a pipe dream. 5. Most of the players are fucking rude, and idiots besides, creating a very toxic environment for anyone who happens to glance at the chat. It's like Barrens chat on steroids. It's a damn waste of space on your hard drive or SSD. Don't touch it, please.

The ships move a lot faster than that by now, incase anyone was worried. Keep in mind that this is a really old video (considering that they keep updating it). It's been a long time since I played. I stopped b/c they kept updating and changing everything, introduce this, remove that whole thing, nerf the new thing we just added in. I mean that's not too bad, but the changes were so big most of the time, like removing a whole class of weapons and adding in the new singularity cannon, then 2 updates later (maybe 1 week later) they nerfed it.

I wish there was like a single-player spaceship simulator where you choose a ship like a fighter, bomber, frigate, cruise ship, cargo ship, civilian ship, destroyer, carrier, space colony, etc. and you can just fly around and do whatever you want. Like you can pilot a fighter and join a carrier ship to fight other ships, or fly a mining ship and mine asteroids for credits, or captain a colony ship and help a galactic empire expand to other planets. It'd be fun!

I should also point out that just because you are one faction you can still fly any of the ships from any faction as long as you have unlocked/bought it. To clarify, you could start off in Empire and stay Empire forever, but you can still play and level up ships from Jericho and Federation.

Man TB explaining the system used to buy and repair reminded me a lot of my World of Tank days. Bought a month of premium for like a tenner, was fine with buying new stuff, got a decent amount of xp even if I had a crap round and always made enough money so 9 times out of 10 I had enough cash to replenish all ammo. As soon as premium ran out I noticed that I got very little xp and unless I kept doing really well I would lose in-game money on buying ammo. At that point I stopped playing.

Yes. TB chose Jericho Raid, but at any point he can go to that Contracts tab at 9:10 and choose another faction. You can only be part of one faction at a time and leveling up that faction will unlock rare weapons/modules for certain classes of ships in the store (you have to buy them). If you change factions those unlocked items stay in the store so theoretically you could level up all the factions to max and unlock everything.

Different ships get access to different types of modules, and as you increase to higher Tiers, each ship type becomes further specialized. Yes, you can get more modules to increase resistance, but you also gain access to more powerful offensive modules.

I think he is referring to lvling up your ship to get to the next tier of ships, which does take a long time the more you progress. There are daily "quests" like "kill 3 ships with a railgun" for cash and to slowly unlock better weapons/mods. I'd argue that it's not the same as grinding in an MMORPG since you can stay in any tier indefinitely depending on the complexity of gameplay you desire. Currently there are a lot of people who stay or gone back to Tier 2 simply b/c there r more players.

Basic flight control is basically that the game does all of the maneuvers for you whereas in advanced mode the you can control all of the articulated parts such as engines for better maneuverability but at the cost of it being harder to control.

You were questioning if the flying speed of the game picks up at later tiers. The information was however available to you all along, as you could view the statistics of some of the ships in later tiers, where speed is indeed a displayed attribute. From what little I could see, it appears that the speed increase between tiers is not that significant. Even going to the point where the speed might actually decrease in favour of other stats.

Also, nonconventional weapons such as nukes take their explosve energy from fission (or fusion in hydrogen bombs) and that is totally nondependant from oxygen. So in conclusion: heat releasing and pressure indusing reactions don't necessarily need "outside" oxygen, they have oxygen in themselves or they don't need it at all.

You are assuming that the frigates have the same propulsion system (in terms of power and size) that the interceptors do. In reality, a semi-realistic space battle would be more akin to two submarines trying to find each other to shoot each other underwater, than to massive capital ships moving slowly while smaller vessels outflank them. The main reason we all like unrealistic space combat is that it's in space, but it behaves like naval/air warfare, which we clearly find more interesting.

If you consider online shooters like CS an MMO then this is an MMO. It's essentially that: team-based instance battles. They have/will add some MMO elements such as sector control and corp. (clan) controlled sectors but its not complete yet. The match size is usually about 8v8 to 12v12. There might be larger battles, the game is still in open beta so still some work being done. Dunno if I explained well, but the website/game is pretty self explanatory Ive been able to figure it out mostly myself

Basically put this way: Realistically the frigates would take longer to reach say 30m/s than an interceptor would but they would both have 30m/s due to inertia, mass, etc (I don't mean this is real but say that's the top possible speed). Plus there is still particles in space but very very little so there is small 'air resistance' I would say but yeah - if this was -272 degrees Celcius (absolute zero) then no. Balancy wise: That would be stupid it would make interceptors more or less useless.

I think you mean the PvP in Eve scares most people away. CCP specifically weighted it towards PvP, but took its sweet time creating a fair protective net for industrial oriented players.

Well the reason why I think the British is possibly OP is because their tech tree actually compliments how arcade battles work, which are a lot of dog fighters with cannons opposed to let's say the Americans who are mostly energy fighters with machine guns which do not work very well in Arcade

Guild Wars. You can play the entire game by yourself. The only time you see the other players playing the game until you go into the cities. The exploration areas are designed specifically for you and your party. I love it for that. Only MMO I have played for more than a few days before uninstalling.

Why not? It might be a bit buggier than the final release, but more often than not it is close to finished anyway, and you get to play it before it is properly released, which has some appeal to some people. I'd like to bring up Minecraft as an example; That game was in development for years before finally being "released", with a lower price if you bought it earlier. The line is blurring between beta and final release today, with patches, demos and the like, so the difference is often minimal.

It's classed as a MOBA, Multiplayer Online Battle Arena. It's not an MMO, if anyone says it is, they're wrong. MMO's typically have to have things such as persistent worlds and large amounts of players in that world able to interact simultaneously

Some would say that games like Star conflict, War thunder, and the World of tanks/warplanes games are MMOs because they contain massive numbers of players and are online only games. However, The lack of a persistent world and servers containing 100s of players at a time.. I would say it is not an MMO.

There is a map butoon and there is sidestrafe buttons. You can do some crazy things in interceptor using afterburner + sidestrafe + crazy mouse movement. Like running from 6 guys at the same time :)

It's not because they have singleplayer that makes them not mmo's. It's the fact that they are simply not mmo's. The keyword is 'massive'. Not in the sense of how many people play, but the interaction and environments that these game worlds exist in. MMO's have persistent worlds that are always accessible. Planetside yes, BR no. Even on the BR wiki it clearly states FPS, not MMOFPS. I hope I helped clarify the divergences involved between the genres :)

Picked it up tonight, right after I watched this video, to be precise. Haven't unlocked any higher tiers yet, but I have a few Mark II ships, and so far I'm loving it. It might just be the low tier, but so far the business model DOES seem rather fair and the gameplay is wonderful. If you want some real high-speed dogfights though, I recommend Interceptors. If you know what you're doing in one of those, you are quite simply untouchable by slower ships. It's like Spitfires dancing around bombers.

I think the main problem is that like most people (including myself), you've overstepped your "comfort zone" because of the unlocks & money bonus. I've learned (the hard way) that in these games, you mustn't be flying the highest unlock, but the tier which you are most suited for. You shouldn't feel any pressure to be flying bigger, more expensive ships until you've established yourself in the lower, cheaper tiers. Again, much like EVE Online. :)

Honestly this game is fantastic. Have been playing ti quite a bit and am having a lot of fun. It has surprising depth for a f2p game. The 9 different classes of ship allow for almost TF2 levels of tactics. And because you are placed in tiers the premium ships don't really have much of an advantage. They are mostly side grades or just modified versions of other ships in the same tier.

Yeah you make a good point. "How many players does it take to be massive" hehe. Right now it seems like a lot of multi-player games define themselves as MMO perhaps because it's trendy. Personally I consider something massive when there are enough players that group communication becomes difficult and you pretty much have to break off into separate groups with their own chat tab/teamspeak in order to achieve the goals. 64 is a pretty good number for that.
