The most shocking part of your scenario is that the Lowe’s delivery went well.

Lowe's did something similar when we tried to buy an over stove microwave. They let us place the order, "should be here in a week", "should be here in a couple weeks", "Need to get it from South Korea, could be a month or two", "Order Cancelled".

I'll never buy anything from Lowe's ever again. In 2017 I ordered a washer and dryer set from them. At that time both in store and online they were advertising free 2 (or 3? I don't remember exactly) day delivery. A half hour after I ordered I got a call from someone who worked in the appliance department telling me it'll be at least 6 weeks before they can deliver as they're backed up on deliveries. I basically tell them that's not my problem and to deliver what I ordered when it was promised. The manager of the appliance department calls back and says the same thing as the first person. I said that's not acceptable and I call corporate. The guy at corporate told me he's making a case out of it and that the store manager will call, he specifically said the store manager and not any other manager would call and make it right. I told the corporate guy if it's that big of a deal they can just rent me a truck for free and I'll come pick it up myself right then. So I get off the phone and a little later the manager of the appliance department calls again, not the store manager. He refuses to rent me a truck for free, but says he can take that cost off what I already paid for the washer and dryer. At that point I'd had enough and canceled the whole order and haven't spent a penny at Lowe's since.

For my deck I was trying to place an order for about $3k worth of lumber. Called Lowe's for lumber and they told me to call deliveries. I called deliveries and they transferred me to some other department, who transferred me to lumber. I hung up and called the Home Depot across the street from them, placed the order there.

I like dogs, but I dont like when the owner deliberately lets out 15 ft of leash so their delightful animal can sniff my leg while Im pushing a flat cart with a stuck wheel laden with 300lbs. of materials down a narrow aisle. Check yourself people, its a store not a dog park.

Also: I was also sold a range in stock and a few days later they notified us it was back ordered 5 months! We really had no choice and had to wait using a countertop hot plate. I truly believe they do this to whom try consider “hicks” in favor of those who live in town.

You know how corporate greed inevitably leads to the enshitification of everything? Yeah, Lowes has been doing that for decades.

I’m just gonna guess that they’re owned by a private equity firm
@pills-8 ай бұрын
I work at Lowes and I'm fairly certain their shareholder prices are their only concern. I give them 5-10 years before the enshitification drives their stocks down and they decide to "invest" in... being functional.

@@antytrend Nope. Lowe's is actually a publicly traded company. That's perhaps even worse.

Appliances are pretty standardized in sizes, their wiring is definitely standardized.
@robbates47048 ай бұрын
Kinda mostly, but not really. A 30” ovens can have significantly different measurements on the cut out opening, refrigerators have many depth and widths, limiting your options and even within those can vary in height. Dishwashers are probably the easiest, unless you have low counters and just need to hope for the best. I had some modifications needed to my cabinets for every “standard” appliance that I recently replaced. Nothing major, and I was able to do them myself, but I am now the proud owner of an oscillating saw.

Yep. I worked for Lowe's as a cashier, and the only unusual part of your experience was not being able to charge the replacement warranties to the same card. I've never seen that happen before. Everything else about your experience happens way too often. The refund system automatically refunds the extended warranty, and it does so without informing the employee processing the refund. I'll say it's a slight improvement over the old system. In the old system, the warranty could only be refunded manually, however, unless the employee was reading the original receipt, there was no way to tell that there was a warranty to refund when the product itself was refunded. That led to way too many people coming back weeks or even months later complaining that they were still charged for the warranty for the item they returned. Anyway, because you effectively purchased the warranties separately, I'd recommend that you call the warranty number and double check that the warranties were properly applied to the appliances you purchased. That's another issue that happens way to frequently.

Extended warranties are a joke unless you can get them extremely cheap. If you don't believe me someone would like to talk to you about your cars extended warranty.

This isn't a Lowe's specific problem. I had a similar experience with Best Buy like 20 years ago. Bought a washer/dryer pair they advertised in the flyer. Washer was in store, dryer had to be ordered. Nearly 3 months later, dryer still not received, after many trips back to the store (an hour away), finally they tell us oh, that model was discontinued before the fkyer even ran so it was impossible to get one (after it was paid for). They upgraded to the next model up which was 100$ more at no charge, finally after like 90 days we had our matching dryer.

I don't shop at Lowes very often, and when I do, I buy what I need from the store. I don't have any experience purchasing appliances from them. I did have a similarly frustrating experience, though, when I wanted to purchase a dishwasher at Home Depot. The model I wanted was not in stock (which I believe is the case with all their appliances), so I went to the order desk and asked to order it. They pulled it up in their system, then asked where they would be delivering it. I said they could deliver to my home or to the store, where I could pick it up. They said they don't do in-store pickup, so it would have to go to my home. When I gave my address, they said we don't deliver there. All I got from them was a whole bunch of what we "can't" do, and none of what we "can" do. I learned that day that Home Depot really had zero interest in selling a dishwasher. The independent appliance store was happy to sell it to me at the same price, and I was able to pick it up in the store a week or two later, which was more convenient for me than waiting another week for their delivery truck to be going to my area. In the case of the three-appliance warranty deal, I wouldn't be surprised if they specifically didn't order the range so they could cancel the warranty intentionally when the range came up as "out of stock." Businesses these days don't care at all about the customer - only their bottom line. If it looks like the customer may be getting a deal that's "too good" they'll find a way to weasel out of it.
@sheridemaray97658 ай бұрын
That's the problem with these big companies, no one knows what anyone else is doing. No personal service. Everything is programmed into a computer and they have too many people punching the buttons. It's very frustrating for the customer who is just a "number" to them. I'm glad you were diligent and achieved your goal in the end!

I once bought a toilet from Lowes with installation. The installation kept getting rescheduled over and over again 3 or 4 times. Finally I called up lowes and they told me that they didn't and have never had contractors in my area to do plumbing installations and they weren't sure why it was even offered...... I will never trust lowes with anything except things that I can walk out of the building with again.

I have a sort of opposite WTF HomeDepot. I order 10 sheets of plywood yesterday for delivery today. Today is Saturday and I sat home waiting to hear from them. At 12:30 I call them and ask what time they will be out. I get they a working on it and it will be out by 8pm. Ok Fine. I hang up and 2 minutes later get a text its out for delivery. 10 minutes later get a second text they are 2 stops away. Ok cool I go out and make room in the garage to put it all. 1 hours goes by and nothing, besides the time in the garage I sat in the front room of my house with the blinds open so I can see when they get here. 2:45 roles around and still nothing so I grab my phone to call them and suddenly get a text thta says. Client not Avaiable delivery rescheduels for Monday. I am pissed. I #1 immediatly canel the order because the original plans was on sunday to run a home depot truck and pick it up myself. So looks like we are back to the original plan. I then immediatly call them and ask why it was cancled. They said oh they put it on the wrong truck they need a flat bed not a box truck. I said whatever and just hung up. No this is was pissed me off the most I can go right back onto their website place an order for the same stuff and schedule it for tomorrow which is Sunday. So #1 why did they not fix the error and still delivery it before 8pm... or two at least schedule it for tomorrow? So tired of home depots shit. Based on this video looks like they are both pieces of shit at times.
