Paula is cool....had her issues, but who hasnt had issues. Hey Marc...whats with the COLD endings??? Jesus....cant u kind of give ur guest a clue yr wrapping up the interview before u end it like slamming a door in someones face?? just some constructive criticism. Otherwise...good job.

Oh God, finally I find other people who did not remotely relate to that stinking boring old boys club Comedy. Not talking Lenny Bruce, who they all tried to emulate but failed, but the whole Lenny Clarke, Sam Kinison. Paula Poundston and Marc Maron, truly funny people. Rosanne, Goerge Carlin, Steven Wright, Eddie Murphy, Dave Chappelle, Wanda Sykes, Michelle Wolf, I could name 100 comedians that can make me laugh before Lenny Clarke or Sam Kinnison. Glad to see Paula Poundstone back. Love her foot puppet routine. Although in-person I think Paula might drive me a little nuts. no offense but don't think I'd get a word in edgewise. Love her and her honesty.

Just in case facts matter she was originally accused of abuse of one child on one occasion. Poundstone denied the accusation. Eventually she pleaded to one count of inflicting injury on a child, a misdemeanor. The prosecutors dropped the felony charges of sexual abuse and also dropped the charge of a lewd act. She did have a serious drinking problem and lost her adoptive kids for a time while she went into treatment for alcoholism. She got her kids back. It was all very public.

Any guy who would have behaved like she did a few years back would have done a couple years hard time. Garison Keillor has his legacy destroyed for so much less. She becomes NPR s darling and is celebrated. No double standard here.

Bob Keen what did she do because I don’t know, but heard rumors she lost her kids. Did she molest them or was she just drunk all the time. Because they kind of insinuated something creepy with her kids, but then said she was an alcoholic. If she molested them that would be horrible.

It appears that when she was still driving back in the early 2000s she was caught driving under rthe influence with her kids in the car. She has been a foster mom to eight children. And never once was accused of molesting children. Get your facts straight before you spread misinformation all over the internet.

gizmokeeper I did do research and let me say I have always loved Paula Poundstone. She was charged with alleged lewd acts and child abuse on children in her care. They removed the children. Her 3 adoptive children were eventually returned after she took a plea deal. All articles said she was no longer able to foster a child. I checked several. Her defense attorney said “it is not a day to rejoice but she was relieved to not go to trial so she took the plea to avoid a lengthy trial.” Prosecutors gave her probation with psychological counseling, community service and to get clean and sober. The prosecutors said their was some inappropriate touching involved that caused mental or physical harm to one of the girls, but it did not constitute a lewd act. They were satisfied with the agreement of probation. Her defense attorney’s and friends say she is wonderful. I know she said her drinking caused it. She eventually pleaded to 1 count of child felony abuse and to misdemeanor of inflicting harm upon a child in a plea deal to get the 3 counts of committing a lewd act on a child reduced. If that had been prosecuted at trial she could have got 13 years and 4 months. I hated reading this, but what the prosecutor’s office said and did is out there. She took the plea deal. Unfortunately the foster children were removed permanently as well as her ability to be a foster parent, and the adopted were eventually returned after the probation standard’s were met. I am not trying to tarnish this women’s reputation. If you are upset then read the articles.

Daniel Roy Yet I was attacked for asking if it was true. And you see what the research revealed. But now suddenly the obvious truth is revealed it is hard to make me the bad guy. I also wanted to say that my first concern is for protection of children. I should have emphasized that! I liked her as a comedian. If she was a danger to the children, which she was deemed to be, then the courts would have not charged her with the initial severe charges. They only reduced the charges because she copped a plea, admitting her guilt, losing her ability to ever foster a child again. If I was innocent I would be screaming it to the roof tops. I know law enforcement just does not go out and accuse people of those kind of charges with no hard evidence, or hard suspicion. Or threaten to put someone away for 13 years, and 4 months!

NiceGuy Hello Why threaten her a 13 year sentence unless she plead out and admitted the acts. You act like I was happy to read this. I went out of my way to present her friends and allies side. I was quoting her friends and her defense attorney. The prosecution was not messing around. Why would they take away the kids and never allow her to foster again? And say she physically molested the daughter removed from the home. She got probation. Of course her lawyer used alcohol as a reason to deflect such serious charges. They do not make such accusations and remove children plus threaten you with a 13 year sentence if you used bad language or gave the finger. My father worked in juvenile court and they never take the kids from the mother unless it is serious. So called nice people both make and female, can do some things that are alarming, disturbing and disappointing. I care about the kids. Without the money & lawyer, she would have done time. I hope she continues to get therapy. I read the articles and they were heavy. When your attorney says we avoided a trial and it is not a day to rejoice even though I kept her out of prison, her children were permanently removed, the female she assaulted was never returned and no more fostering ever. That does not sound like a person that was innocent of the charges that were only reduced because of a PLEA deal! No one screamed I am innocent and want to fight this, the lawyer told her to take the plea and hopefully stay out of prison by proving your deep remorse and commitment to getting professional long term therapy and having your privileges as a foster mom taken away. People are desperate for healthy good protective foster parents but if the children are in danger they will remove them as they should. I again feel compassion for the female child. And the others that were not taken care of.
