FTX HAVOK but they are different kinds of cars split up into classes. LMP1 cars have 1000 horsepower and ANY (I repeat, ANY) engine configuration they want. By contrast, the GT cars have MUCH less power (around about 700), and drastically different bodywork, primarily because it is a racing version of a road-going car. Yet again, by contrast, all the F1 cars are extremely similar, both technically and visually (by visually I mean with bodywork). You can't really compare cars DESIGNED to be different with cars designed to be almost the same.

I think the idea was just to compare the relative pace of the cars.

5:26: The engine is pushed back toward the middle of the car mainly to decrease the polar moment of inertia-not primarily to improve weight distribution (although it does make that slightly easier too). A low polar moment of inertia (having the bulk of the weight toward the middle) makes the car rotate much more easily, which obviously helps to take turns faster. An example of this physics principal is when a figure skater spins, if she pulls her arms in toward her body, she spins much faster, and conversely, she spins more slowly when stretching her arms back out. The difference in rotational speed is huge just by moving the weight of her arms close and farther from her body. You can imagine how much difference it makes by moving a heavy engine toward the middle of a car; it makes the car rotate much more freely (which is a double edge sword because it makes it easier to spin out). Anyway, that’s why the best format for a race car is mid-engine-not because of weight distribution.

If you think the noise of the WEC cars are great, you should go to Santa Pod near Wellingborough, the UK home of drag racing. Top Fuel dragsters in particular are without doubt the loudest and fastest race cars on the planet. It doesn't matter that the races in the top fuel class are done in three seconds each. As someone who hadn't been to a drag racing event before studying motorsport at college and soon university, I didn't know what to expect. Notice you failed to mention the top category contains only 2 cars Toyota 1 and 2 .The 2nd (non hybrid??) category have a massive penalty ,ie no of pit stops ,restrictions meaning the only chance of winning is if the 2 Toyotas stop or get disqualified (which once they did). While this has potential to grow with the slow death of F1,it hasn't really sorted it's regs out.

At the moment, LMP1 cars have around 400-450 BHP from the V4 on the back tires, but they boost their power up to 1000 using the electric engines (MGU units) that provide an extra 500-550 BHP to the front tires. Drivers can't use more than 8 MJ of energy every lap, so they usually use the power before a big straight (that's why you see them rocketing past GTE and LMP2 cars after the corners). LMP2 cars don't have the hybrid system, so they run like a normal GTE, except with the obvious differences in aerodynamics. I think they also have an extra 50-100 BHP on the engines, but not sure. LMP1 are faster than F1 on full acceleration and they also have WAY better aerodynamics (telemetry proves it). They don't, however, have the best lap times in most racing tracks because the F1 is faster overrall (not dependent on the MGU to be fast AF). If the LMP1 could run the hybrid system all the time, lap times would be very similar, even with the F1 using DRS every lap. But at the end of the day, screw the specs, LMP1 and F1 are ridiculously fast and they're really nice to watch. I just personally like to watch WEC because you spend literally 6 or 24 hours watching LMP1's fight through traffic and GTE classes doing their own battles with the interference of the LMP1 and LMP2 categories. You never know when you have 6-7 cars from all 4 classes entering a corner, all fighting for positions - chaos ensues and either there's a good moment, or there's a crash, tire puncture or spins. It's really fun to watch.
