I’ve been collecting Hot Wheels since 1992 and hands down sincerely appreciate all your efforts with filming and editing the videos over the years. Your single year in review videos have taught me a lot about Hot Wheels and I’ve always anticipated your next one. Yes the Tomart books help us identifying Hot Wheels, but seeing you display and describe the cars is much more satisfying. I thank you for all you’ve done and will continue to watch for your next video. Good luck with school and your next adventure in life.

Too bad it's not about PT boats, cruise liner ships, submarines, bathyscaphes, combat jets or even commercial passenger airliners.
@georgeshelton62815 жыл бұрын
What's this also not about? It's easy; this educational video never showed any hot wheels flying saucer jets, it's the kind the German Nazis had in the near end of WWII.

Don't forget; the Soviet Russians had the same thing, and so did we fellow Americans during the entire 1950s.

Fantastic review. You keep me motivating collecting these vintage Hot Wheels. They are something special. The two black & white police cars you compared at 7.22 minutes, they have a different hood tampo. One goes to the front of the hood and one don't. And of course as you mentioned the base. Great vid. Enjoyed this one a lot. ;-)

The Sheriff Patrols and the Hot Birds are some of my favorite Hot Wheels oldies and they seem to have so many variations. And no problem with how often you make videos, studies come first (and work of course). Thanks for showing these.

India LEO Hot Wheels are famous for having the country of origin removed from the base. Also quite famous for having unique tempo variations and color variations available only for a VERY short time. Some castings from LEO Mattel were quite literally produced in an amount that could fill only a few hands full. Nice finds

Ok I haven't even hit the one minute mark and I'm drooling. The two police cars are so mint it's scary. I have very few "classic" 70's & 80's castings in my collection. I love seeing these even though I'll never get them..lol. Well the Hot Bird and cop cars are two I do love. So back to the show.

I found the All-American Firebird Hot Bird carded at a Value Village thrift store in Ottawa in, I believe it was, 2014 but the card was trash so I opened it and it's now on my wall-rack with 4 other stars-and-stripes themed cars. It's just the common red interior variation with silver UH wheels and no "Hot Bird" on the chassis. I think it's with the lighter blue hood tampo but I don't have another example with the darker tampo with which to compare it so I can't say that with 100% confidence.

Mattel started moving production of mainline Hot Wheels from their old factory in Hong Kong to the then new one Malaysia in the early 1980s. I'm not 100% sure of the exact start and end dates but I think the transitional period years were 1981 through 1985, so many mainlines from that era can be found in both Hong Kong and Malaysia chassis variations.

Your information you give is as cool as the cars. Base variations? I heard of the Malaysia and Indonesia etc variants. But the elimination of the orgin off the casting is something I will study more of. Also I have a few "errors". The 2018 Mustang chess car missing half the tampos. Same with a Renault #5 as well. But all mine are 2015-present with some scattered 2000's and up. I have a blue card Oskosh Plow truck in black. That's another baby. My set or collection isn't close to yours. I just got back into this after my multiple pneumonia bouts and weeks in the Respiratory ICU. Channels like this, the racing, and the well I thought was a community until I came into contact with the scalpers. It's a amazing hobby and I love it. But I already have to deal with a terminal illness. When I go into a store here I have to deal with terminal stupidity. Scalpers have threatened people here. Started fights. A pallet of merchandise dumped on a child because the guy had to have the case of hot wheels. I truly enjoy this hobby but now it's turned into a money scam for people in eBay. Now I'm NOT referring to your purchase. Not at all. The cars you bought are long since gone. It's the scam and sell 99cent cars for $30.00 on eBay. It's no longer a hobby, it's become a business. If you don't have access to creep around stores for hours and hours your screwed. The Bugatti Cheron was the last straw. Before the release there were unrivited models on eBay going for $70.00. These were people from the factory stealing pieces and selling them. Now 5 packs are being bought, gutted, good cars replaced with whatever, and returned. The Datsun 510 wagon in the 5pk. Speed Blur series. I saw 9 packs on the shelf. NONE had the 510 wagon. I don't know if this is the same up by you. I'm in the northern US. I call it the armpit of the state. Scalpers outnumber collectors 10-1. I stopped buying Star Wars and Marvel due to the rip offs. Sorry just a rant from a guy who loves Hot Wheels and hasn't seen anything new or worthwhile in a store in 3 months.

I always hated the light bar set up on the 1977 Hot Wheels police car, a.k.a., the generic 1977 Plymouth Fury in all but name...what they should have done was either did what Matchbox did with most of its variants of the 1979-1982 Ford LTD Crown Victoria police units, namely, make a red and blue trapezoidal light bar, or made an oval red, white, and blue light bar like the first two types of Tonka/Maisto police cars, along with adding some painted lights in the interior section of the police car that were red and blue, as well as made the front grille, the rear bumper lights, and front and back fenders, more detailed. Would not either set up be infinitely better than what Mattel did with that police car?
