This is an amazing video my friend...after seeing this I must get myself some Plano cases..pronto! Now what to do with all the lids lol...by the way after you take the lid off it seems to leave an exposed hinge, but when you're putting the cases on the wall the hinges seem to fit in the one below like lego...do you ever have to do any case modifications to make them fit snugly together?
@wtffor8 жыл бұрын
The exposed hinge does indeed fit snugly into the lip of the case positioned below it, so they become hidden as you stack the cases up the wall. Also, because it fits together, each case above and below make the display more solid and evenly flat against the wall. I often wonder if these were designed this well for display, or if it was just good luck!
@DavesDiecast8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the explanation O-Dawg....I think it may have been luck since the cases seem to be made to organize a lot of stuff you'd need the lid kept on..but then again they did put the screw holes in the cases so maybe they did have wall displays in mind...
@lovediecastdetails22698 жыл бұрын
Just wondering if that plano cases will hold green light ford crown victoria , maybe you can help me , the car is unusually long for 1:64 scale special the one that have push bar , thanks , and You have A SUPER Collection sir :)
@wtffor8 жыл бұрын
Very good question! I will have a video coming very soon showing you exactly just how well (or not well) Greenlight, M2, and Autoworld 1/64 scale models are held in Plano cases. To answer your question, the Crown Vic will fit the bottom larger compartments but the cars are on an angle. If they have a push bumper, they will not fit.

I would never "display" my nice Matchbox cars and Hot Wheels cars in those Plano cases. It looks cheap and very low class. Think about the thousands of dollars that you have spent on your diecast vehicles. Don't they deserve nice display cases? 🤔

Is the shelf your six lane track on fairly sturdy? I have been considering doing a setup for mine along my wall in the basement. I was thinking of almost building a bench for it to be on but what you have done looks like it may be easier. It looks like you used larger metal shelf supports. Awesome set up you have.
@wtffor7 жыл бұрын
The shelf is very sturdy when built with the large 10" brackets screwed into studs, every 16" along the wall. More then enough weight carrying capacity for the track and a bunch of cars parked underneath. Thanks for watching and have fun building your own, you'll love it!

Thanks for making the video. I'll need to try that display method, but I might want to glue something on the cubicle edge so that a car won't fall out, from vibration, or from whatever.
@wtffor7 жыл бұрын
I had though the same thing, and occasionally a few cars do fall out of their pockets, especially if I have music playing in the house (vibrations from the bass). Unfortunately there are so many compartments I can't be bothered, LOL, so I just go around and pick them up if I see they have migrated. Luckily I have a carpeted floor, so usually no damage to the car.

@@johndunbar1678 I know right? Anyway, you can find them at Walmart in the arts and craft section but sometimes they're not in stock. Did you get the extra elevation for the 6-lane idea from ghost jerker by chance?
@wtffor8 жыл бұрын
I have seen his video and he has the same idea, but it is not a new idea for me since I have been building and using this 6-Lane Super Speedway for the last 3 years in a variety of set-ups and locations (such as my deck in the Cool Down video). Extra elevation means higher speeds and farther distance for the cars racing... so I won't take credit for the idea but it is as universal as wheels are round, imo.

@wtffor7 жыл бұрын
I have over 120 of these cases hanging on 1/2" drywall, some loaded with all metal cars, and I've never had an issue. You may need a drywall anchor if you damage the screw hole on your first attempt installing.

Funny thing is a company has owned Plano Plastics since 2007 it was bought by a company that manages the pensions for Ontario teachers so it's kind of funny they are so hard to find in Canada.

Your videos are DANGEROUS to my family!!! my 2 yr old son now likes saying cr#pload in a Canadian accent! (we're English); my wife's liking for long haired chaps has been rekindled (I'm bald!); and I now want to collect Hot Pursuit cars!
@wtffor8 жыл бұрын
You sir have an excellent sense of humor! I do apologize for the cr#pload comment, although the thought of your youngster repeating it with an English accent did have me laughing to myself a bit (shamefully, I am sorry!)... Long hair - bagh! It's over-rated and only a matter of time before I cut it short to a manageable buzz-cut! Also, remember Captain Picard from Star Trek? One of my favorite actors and a heart-throb for many women! As for your desire to collect Greenlight cars, it's addictive - they are SO cool! Also, an investment as well as a collection (That's my rational, anyway!) Thank you and your family for watching my videos, and I hope you enjoy many more... also I will attempt to refrain from any more bad words in my videos for youngsters. :)
@Lacking_something8 жыл бұрын
+wtffor He hasn't said cr#pload today so maybe he's forgotten it. I'm gong to keep saying it to see if I can start a trend in England town. "golly gosh Janet you've bought a cr#pload of tealeaves this week!". "don't get your knickers in a twist Graham they were on offer!". I am getting my own back for cr#pload by teaching my kids that Canada is a town in the USA, nearly big enough to have its own Sherriff. Is there a way to message you direct without all of youtube seeing? wanted to discuss best ways to acquire green line hot pursuits.

Nice, your Diecast basement is looking great, are you going to have sections of matchbox, greenlights, and johhnys?
@wtffor8 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jeff! I was definitely planning on separating sections for different brands, and to start I will put like car manufactures together within each brand of diecast. I don't collect other brands to complete collections (as I did with Hot Wheels), so I think this will be a fun and different way to look at the collection in the new room.
