This is the craziest thing ever. Watch the video, the pathway for the water supply is clearly not blocked. But water will not come through it. WTH?

To be honest Mike if I was doing the great loop again and I’ve done it twice,I’d recommend having the out drive fully rebuilt my friend , that’s one problem no boat owner wants or needs

Yes sir for sure. Being it is taking so long, it looks like a section of the Florida Loop this year. The section from Ft. Myers, around the keys to Port St. Lucie. Also like I say about the engine needing to be new, I plan to replace it with a rebuilt Cobra or a new ASI unit. You are 100% correct that no one should attempt such a long voyage on unknow parts.

Hey Mike. My Ciera had a Cobra like that when I got. I could never get it to work right. It eventually locked up and blew a gear out the side. I ended up getting the OMC to Aplha one adapter. Now my shifting is amazing.

Had a omc stern drive on a Starcraft boat several years back. Had similar issue. It would work fine one day and overheat the next. Ended up having bad seals on the water tube inside the case. Have to remove lower unit to replace. Go to someplace online like Crowley marine and find a schematic for your drive. You should see a water tube listed with seals at both ends in the lower gear case. Everything needs to seal well for the pump to pull suction.

Get some new muffs! I have the same outdrive, water comes out the bleed vent on pump when I turn the hose on before I start engine, also turn it on full blast, what are you afraid of?

A lot of people will say, turning it on full blast will be counterproductive. I however don't believe that. I had it from full blast to a trickle and all in between. I have had several people say, it has to be submerged. It does work, but doesn't make any sense. It should work on the muffs also. I am going to try a different pair, just to see if it makes any difference. Can you shoot me a picture of where the water comes out of yours?

That's what I thought. Check out the livestream I just did a little while ago at 7. I show the video of it pumping.

It will work. It uses suction from the pump to pull it up

Yes I eventually found that out. I have never seen one that wouldn't work on the muffs?

It might just be the design. Once the drive is assembled, that impeller probably pulls just enough air to get it going.

Put some dish soap on the impeller so it has a chance of survival if it does run dry for a bit. Good luck Cap!

Seal the muffs better and water will push up the tube.

If your model camera is waterproof, I'd stick it down the pipe while the muffs are on.

We had a problem with dads bass boat 90 horsepower Yamaha we hooked them up to it but it would not be so we took it in thinking it was the impeller but it wasn't they said it in a barrel and it pumped water me and Dad took it to the lake and it was peeing water fine movie Drive Philip a barrel and put it in that

Got to be an issue with muffs just not sealing that great. Impeller should provide enough vacuum to suck it up.
