I love seeing Bob dive into new territory. I mean - damn, that thing is an abomination, but seeing an aspiring casemodder go through problems and seeing him improve his work in the future (I'm crossing my fingers for that) is both relatable and interesting as hell.

I was just thinking the same thing. The best handhelds out there right now seem to be the old Gameboy style but the Gameboy Advance is my absolute favorite. So much more comfortable

Yeah Bob I love this idea and execution but you could level up your solder game with a little research into heat levels of your iron, gently preheating components (not chips just pads) before you apply solder, and using flux on components to help them stick. But this isn't an electrical engineering class (thank god) so solid B+
@1-eye-willy Жыл бұрын
@@beatsbyandrew Bob starts projects before hes even read through or seen the tutorial or directions. then he fucks something up because hes literally working on the project while simultaneously trying to follow along with no reference of what the next several steps are even going to be. he has no business using power tools and soldering irons but he pulls it off most of the time
@michaelmcteague7471 Жыл бұрын
In any case it's good to show people that it can be hacked together for you to enjoy, even if you aren't proficient with an iron.

@Mindartcreativity Жыл бұрын
This is the way! I've always wondered if this was possible and you built it. To remove the front screws, maybe you could 3d print a piece that goes inside between the shells and and clicks into place but also screws internally to the front shell? t's hard to explain and I am not an engineer haha. Definitely a cool project.

With the kind of stuff you're getting into, SLA 3D printing would do you a world of good. It's so much better for small, precise parts in projects like this. Take it from a hardware dev! It might seem intimidating, but it's so worth it to learn. I've heard the "Elegoo Saturn" is a pretty good SLA printer series to start out with.

When you drill holes, start with a smaller bit and work your way up. That way the large bit won’t be as likely to grab the part and make it spin in your hand, or break completely. Also if you have a vice, put the part in that.

Dear Bahb, this would probably feel better if you glued the frame into the front shell. You can probably get the closure feeling better. NGL I fully started this expecting it to be an actual dumpster fire but I love everything about this build and really want to make one. Oh also it may feel better if the 3d printed parts were done in hard resin, JLC PCB does prints that are pretty reasonable if you don't have access to a resin printer. Also everyone go support Natalie she makes super cool stuff in the gameboy scene and I love seeing her stuff show up in other people's content.
