Be serious. Ever read John chpt. 2??? I'm surprised a Presbyterian church would stoop to the level of mega status mentality. Smh

@@DJK-cq2uy Nevertheless, there is not a direct correspondence between the temple and our modern churches. Our churches are not holy buildings in which God manifests his special presence or Shekinah glory; God's special presence no longer resides in any special building (John 4:20-24). Rather, for Christians the temple is now Jesus (John 2:21) himself and the people of the church (1 Cor. 3:16-17). Setting up a business on church property therefore might not really infringe upon God's sacred space. And while some in the community might perceive the coffee shop as a sign that the church has sold out, perhaps others will feel welcomed by the casual, non-traditional idea. Perhaps those who have been turned off to Christianity by past experiences in traditional churches will find a church with a coffee shop less threatening, more inviting. Again, a coffee shop might also increase fellowship in the body, and this could be a very needed thing. The early church seems to have benefited greatly from taking meals together on a regular basis (e.g. Acts 2:46). Perhaps this would be one way for a modern church to recapture this experience. Evangelistically, one might also find more success in inviting an unbeliever over for a cup of coffee on the church grounds (hey, there's a catchy name for a church coffee shop: The Church Grounds) than in inviting that same person to a church service. The argument could also be made that a business increases needed church revenue.

@@briannamack7863 I simply know what Jesus did when money hungry folk polluted the temple. If He didn't care, why did He become so angry?? John 4 24 I agree. But if a spirit of greed and excluding others without money is operative, I'm not sure the Jesus I know would embrace. If yall are so big on inclusion, why not make free coffee like most solid fundamentalist churches do? Do you think Jesus was a capitalist? What is done in those coffee shops is capitalism. Read Acts 2 v. 40 thru 46. I really do not wish to hear from any Evangelical Mega Church types. I like my Eastern Orthodox n Judaism. However, I recommend getting a concordance and learning what the words, so loosely used by many Megas , actually mean. Good luck. Save your "theology" fir someone else, please

@@DJK-cq2uy " Save your "theology" fir someone else, please" I mean isn't what you are offering up as a response technically a theology you have? I don't see It fair or right for the very first person to comment what they believe and then you go at them about what they believe but then you get mad and upset when I do the same thing you were doing. i am simply offering up a explanation to what the first person may be thinking or feeling about the situation, nothing in my comment was put in a aggressive tone towards you and I made sure of it and you are getting upset? and in hindsight honestly is having a coffee shop in a church the biggest problem at hand? there are thousands loosing their lives every day who are unsaved and and millions of more to follow in suit and in the end of days are we going to be crying about the fact some church in the middle of no where had a coffee shop in their church? and at the end of the day is adding something like this into a church so deterring for you that you'd willingly miss hundreds to even maybe thousands of interactions to win people over to christ?besides who says the money is going to the church, there are many churches that use the money they make to fund mission trips and christian charities , there are also many church cafes that DO offer free coffee and if you want something that's more specific or extra that is what you pay for ,is that also against the law? I personally think you are treading very close on the line of legalism but that is for you to evaluate for yourself. Anyways , long story short I wasn't trying to start anything I just want to give you a response to both sides on my first comment as to what the first commenter may of been thinking, I am going to assume we are both busy people and as followers of christ we both have one greater common goal and should be focusing on that and not something as dumb as having a coffee shop in a church.

@@briannamack7863 I'm not mad. I am simply repelled by ignorance of God's ways. Please save your effort and breath. And preach your " doctrine" to someone else. If it smells like a rotten egg, it likely is. Stay"busy" in serving the Lord. Ever try fasting? Asceticism? Do you even know what that means? Did Jesus say open up thy wallet and fleece the sheep? Ever deny yourself, starve any depraved, and I'm sure you have none, appetites? Contemplative, silent prayer? Just being His? I don't see that in Evangelical Christianity for the most part. Do you, like most Evangelicals I know, despise Christ's Mother? Read chapter 1 of Luke and chapter 1 n 2 of John. I'm sure she's just a dirty Ole sinner like the rest of us. I'd be cautious if I was one of the typical Evangelicals, about how I talk about my Saviors mother. Honor n revere, nit worship. I will not contact you again. Please extend me the same. We disagree fine. Stay outa my circle. I'll stay outa yours. Peace n love of Christ
