Finally someone talked about this! I believe it was mentioned by Juè that since Abby lives inside us, it must have got an authorization from us in the past.. The way it's so connected to Rover's past when our whole goal in the game is to know more about their past, how powerful it is, or the fact that it's the only being that has 3 tacet marks like the first resonator (rover) makes Abby so interesting Never forgeting the possible foreshadowing of its real name, Abraxax 🗣🔥

Abby won for me the moment she came out of Rover's hand at the end of the Jue fight. She asked Rover who's bullying them, turned around saw Jue and was ready to THROW DOWN. It wasn't a comedy bit where she'd see an imposing dragon and go "ha ha, I can't do this after all!" and then hide behind Rover. Naw. She was literally ready to start punching.

Abby is just adorable! I also like it's personality. I include Abby in my list of favorite mascots like Nopons from Xenoblade, Moogles and Chocobos from FF series and Owls from Tales of Arise. One good thing that Abby also has that Paimon doesn't is the fact that it is willing to square off with Jue once it saw Jue and Rover in the end.

Biggest thing that I've seen nobody talk about is the fact that people in WuWa actually researched Abby to an extent (until it started denying wanting to be part of any experimentation any further) which gave us some answers of what it might be. Not to mention that people get startled when they see it unlike a certain other mascot, nobody even questions what the hell Paimon even is supposed to be anymore

i mean im not huge GI fan or delve deep into GI lore by any mean, but GI world is kinda grounded in being this fantastical world where there's spirit, giant worms, bosses, magical mechs or golem,... So Paimon probably just look like another spirit/pixie that inhabitat the world. Where as the world of Wuwa is grounded a little more on logic and science. The people of the world like to understand and research stuffs so they are able to understand it; They give out medical and evaluation report for every character in the game so yeah one game is based on the faith system of medieval time while one is based on a more scientific approach

Gonna be honest, when I first daw Abby. I got traumatic flashbacks of Paimon yapping and being the actual MC since she's the mouth piece. But to my surprise, the devs treated her like just another character who speaks FOR HERSELF. The only time I saw Abby get used as a mouth piece is during that meteor world quest. Which I'm not fond of.

If we're talking about gacha mascot the best one I could think of is Fou from FGO. He is a very relevant character in the game. On a regular basis he acts more of a pet that's always together with Mashu or you.

I would say Tower of Fantasy has a pretty decent mascot in Mia (Shirly is just the poster girl, Mia is the actual mascot). - Has adorable design, has multiple in-game outfits you can pick for her. - The pitch of her voice is inoffensive to the human ears, have a stuttering voice-bug quirk that is kinda cute. - She actually follows you around, and can also fight alongside you with the smart servant mechanic you unlock later on. - Does not talk for you. Does not whine uselessly. - Usually docile, but can politely dish out some verbal burns when she feels like it. - Last but not least, she cooks for you (which gives EXP and buffs), 3 times a day!! She smol, she makes u snaccs, she proteccs, what more do you want!?? Ppl can dis Tof all they want, myself have also given up on it. But defend Mia to the death i will!!! xD

Out of all the mascot type characters I've ever seen, its Felyne/Melynx/Palicos from Monster Hunter that I really genuinely love. Just seeing them fighting beside you in actual gameplay and even having their own impactful moments at times just cemented them as the best mascots for me.

I really love that abby goes in the tacet mark and gives us some privacy, the biggest gripe i had with paimon is that she is mostly always present, it makes it really hard to have a one to one heart to heart with some of the characters be taken seriously when she's blabbing away, it really just takes away the weight that some scenes could of had just because of her presence. The recent changli character story and the main story with jinshi only solidified my belief, not once has abby interrupted a scene and the interactions felt more personal as a result of that. Anyway still love paimon but my God give the traveler some space would ya

Reason why i hate paimon is she takes away what little relevance traveler still has. Travelers story is on such a back seat that it took going from the chasm to late into version 4 to get any update on it. It would've been fine if traveler actually gets to talk and act on their own in the story. But even spoken dialogue is taken over by Paimon and traveler just reacts to it.
