You both have nailed it with this one . You’ve really distilled the reasons for the creation of the fountain head and it’s resulting behavior or inner workings down so finely that it’s becoming very clear. Heart felt thanks!

Three inner characteristics working together is our aim, not against each other. I agree. 1. my inner child characteristics, 2. my parental programming characteristics and 3. my grown up adult self characteristics aren’t always a great team. For example, when it comes to money. My adult self knows the importance of saving money to buy the things I want and need. If I spend some of that money on a ‘want’ rather than a ‘need’ then my parental programming berates me - now I’ll have less for a ‘rainy day’. Then my inner child gets emotional and says ‘I don’t care’ and spends more money. Next minute I have little savings in my account. Then I get angry at myself (my parental programming and my adult self berating my inner child). To be honest, this consent conflict we have with our three selves/characteristics can be very exhausting. If I was just my adult self, then my life would be so much easier (rather than dealing with my inner child and parental programming). I’m a classic person who self sabotages, in all aspects of my life. It really bothers me that I do this. As Anthony DeMello, author of the book ‘Awareness’ said, ‘awareness is the first step to healing’. I suppose, at least this is a start, that I’m aware that I have a problem with self sabotaging. Thank you for a great vlog 🌻

you both compliment each other so well. I have been listening to your programs for several weeks now and find you do a wonderful job of explaining complicated emotional/thinking processes to make them understandable and readily applied to ourselves. I love Dr. Lee's passion and his delight and they way his companion often clarifies the point he's making. Bravo to you both and thank you for the work you do. KDMathews, MSW

I got it, so it is the child within us who believes that feeling comes from outside as external threat.. Childish ideals I guess so many warlords in history did it, acted like a child yet in leading an army..

This is so useful, thank you David and Alex. One video topic that would help me enormously is the concept of boundaries. I don’t really understand what they are or how to set them without offending or letting people down. I’m trying to do everything from a place of love these days, but feel that leads to people walking all over me.

This stuff is finally making sense. I do wish you would insert compassion for IC earlier in your videos. When you say they are having a tantrum or avoidance behavior, it would be nice to say then that it's not your fault you learned that pattern (and do not know a different way at this moment). Knowing/explaining we still need to address the tantrum/issue. Other youtube inner childhood helpers are Lisa A. Ramano and Anna Runkle, Crappy Childhood Fairy. Thanks so much!

This is so informative . The part of my mind ( inner child) just wants to hide and won’t acknowledge it needs to be loved. I don’t say “I am not good enough” Are there other things you could be saying that you are unaware of .

Hi @christineward7526, Thank you for your insightful comment. It's great to hear that you found the content informative. Recognising the parts of ourselves that need attention, like the inner child, is a significant step. It's entirely possible there are other subconscious messages you might be telling yourself without being fully aware of it. Exploring these thoughts can be revealing and help you understand more about your inner narrative. Sometimes, journaling or talking with a trusted person can bring these hidden thoughts to the surface. Continue to nurture your awareness and kindness towards yourself. Kind Regards, David

NoGood morning David and Alex this is why so many people I know are advodiant because their inner child is so in control of their lives and they think that's the way they are so they go through like beating up on themselves and others CCJ and red light feelings off the hook on steroids 😂 I do totally understand why I sabotage my life and all my realtionships David I am here today to let you know the great success I am having with my inner child Black Beauty I ask her yesterday how you feel she said good mommy last night when I was laying on my bed with my eye close she appeared to me I saw my inner child I knew it was here she had those two ponytails on each side of her head like I use to wear when I was six or seven years old in my hair she looked so bright and calm peaceful this is incredible how I have build such a beautiful realtionship with her she now is showing her self to me 😮 WOW David is this normal what I am seeing Thanks David you are an amazing teacher

Hi, thank you so much for your beautiful message and continued support! 🙏 It’s wonderful to hear about the success you’re having with your Inner Child, and how you've developed such a meaningful connection with "Black Beauty." What you're describing-your Inner Child appearing calm and peaceful-is a sign that you're truly working toward resolving past issues and bringing harmony to your Shen spirit. The visualizations and feelings of calm you’re experiencing are part of this deeper connection. As for whether it’s normal, yes, it’s very natural! The more you communicate with your Inner Child, the clearer this relationship becomes. You're doing amazing work by acknowledging and nurturing her, and that inner peace is a reflection of your own acceptance and progress. Keep going, you're on the right path! 🌱 Feel free to share your journey in our free Facebook community: facebook.com/groups/wuweiwisdomcommunity/ P.S. Exciting News! I'm launching David's Journal, my free newsletter where I'll share deeper insights into Wu Wei Wisdom, Taoism, and my personal journey. For exclusive access to upcoming projects and the chance to shape new content, a paid subscription is also available. Subscribe for free or join the inner circle: davidjameslees.com Looking forward to sharing this journey with you! Kind Regards, David

I am not good enough, because I can not remember things, I quickly forget what I have learnt. I am not smart enough to get a job that will allow me to become independent from my parents. Also, I have no imagination and I am not creative. I am good at following rules and instructions, and the modern world needs creativity. Everything that is not creative is going to be automated (robots, machines, AI)

But my 8 year old self was very determined and productive wanting to top the class and succeeding at everything, it's my adult self that is sabotaging my life now. She is so much better and would in fact teach me something. I imagine her being unhappy seeing me like this. How shall I communicate with her when I don't want to disappoint her?

This was absolutely excellent. I have been following you for about a month and your approach has inspired and educated me ; I see how my IC has sabotaged much leaving me with debt and a broken marriage because I believed in unicorns and utopia. BUt knowing all this doesn't make it any easier to actually get on and change my habits; there seems so much ingrained poor behaviour that it's almost impossible to know where to start - so many things I have avoided because I wanted an easy life that turning my life around looks like an impossible goal. Any ideas?
