We've arrived! After a 12-hour drive from Utah, I've brought the family to Cascade Locks, and let me tell you, the scenery is absolutely breathtaking! As we shake off the long journey and eagerly anticipate the start of the 2024 Gorge Waterfalls 100k, I couldn't resist taking the GS:PGH shoes out for a spin in their terrain of origin.
To my surprise, I found myself actually enjoying these shoes for the first time. As I tackled the downhill sections, I couldn't help but appreciate the wider base underfoot, which provided stability on the soft ground. It felt akin to skiing powder-just as you wouldn't want skinny skis in deep, soft powder, having big fatboys underfoot keeps you on top of everything. That's exactly what these shoes offer on soft ground: stability and confidence, thanks to their wider base and stiff foam.
As I soak in the excitement of being surrounded by friends and fellow racers, I can't help but feel grateful to be here. Tomorrow's race promises to be an exhilarating experience, and I can hardly wait to hit the trails. Stay tuned for more updates as the adventure unfolds!

Yeah I think if my foot was wider I would really like it a lot more! They feel maybe like a half size too big as well for a men’s 9. Maybe one day I’ll try an 8.5 and take em for round 2.

@@psillyrunner8650 I have the 8.5's and have really wide feet and they're also the best shoe I've ever tried! Curious if you use the carbon plate or not? I don't usually but tomorrow morning is my first ever 50k and considering using it, or taking it out for super technical areas then putting the plate in when it's flatter. I believe they discontinued these as there's a new version coming out soon but they should fit similar apparently.

@@bikehikefishrepeat1486 yeah i wasn't using the plate when I ran in the PGH. I don't like stopping at aid stations like that because all that time adds up WAY faster than you would think. If a shoe isn't going to work for an entire 50k - 100m than I gotta keep looking
