I know of a British volunteer in Ukraine (Kherson area) who during some R&R in Kyiv couldn't sleep...so he put on some of these WWI and WWII ambient sound videos from youtube! Slept perfect after that! Thanks! You are actually helping people too!

14 march 1918 It's rained heavy on us last night, we were forced to stay awake and clear the water out of the trench with our helmets. Next week we are going to launch a counterattack on the city of Saint Quentin. I'm so scared and frightened go there without my last friend Michael, he was killed 2 months ago due to bullet in a battle, while he was bleeding he told me to tell his family he loved them and that's he's joining our friends paul and tom. Every night i think about my friends and my family and cry myself to sleep. I wish this war never happened They told us : It's will be all over before Christmas but here we are nearly 4 years of fighting and suffering Even if i stayed alive after the war nothing will go back to normal I will continue my life as a dead soul waiting to be freed

I graduated from the mild war school in Turkey in 2014 and started my duty as a lieutenant. My first task was to secure a village raided by terrorists in Syria, we got on the helicopter in the morning and they left us on top of a mountain, my team was a special team of 15 people. And this is my first landing on the field, I'm unfamiliar to everything, I was seeing bones between some stones, human bones, leg ribcage bones, we were officially left in an area washed by blood. I was suppressing the excitement inside me, I trained the fear, I could do it. In the evening, we came near the village where the terrorists raided, we took refuge in a corner, first of all, we analyzed the region from the map and made a plan to get a position correctly. We planned that we would enter the village with the first lights of the day around 05.00 in the morning. We waited in the freezing cold on a mountain all night, we couldn't make a fire because we didn't want our place to be clear. We raided the village in the morning, but we learned that they left the village 1 day before we arrived. We gathered in the village square at around 6 o'clock after checking everywhere, when we entered the mosque of the village, we saw that all the village people were executed, they killed all of the innocent people in the mosque. Child, woman, old, young. They killed everyone without saying... As Tim, we promised ourselves a promise at that moment, we will find those who did these and we will finish them at the end of 3 days of track follow-up and research in that region, we found their lair, we shattered them all, I have never been more happy in my life. I was happy not because I killed them, but because these terrorists could no longer kill innocents. I hated weapons and blood every second of my life. My only goal before entering military life was to protect the innocents, preventing children from dying... and I did this in my first duty, it was my honor, there are many countries that support terrorists in the region. America is sending them free weapons, bombs, ammunition all over Europe. The only neutral country in the east is Turkey, the only army there is the Turkish army so that the innocents do not die, children, women and people do not die. The West just wants not to see all this and not to end this bloody massacre. I am a civilian citizen living in Turkey now, I had to resign as a result of the accident I had, these sounds reminds me of the hours I slept on the mountain and I sleep more comfortably. I still see photos of the brutality in the east on my phone. No war will be neutral... but what happens in Syria in the east is not a war, but a massacre, and it is only Turkey… Thank you to the people who read this, I hope I added something to you, best regards.

Falling asleep to this video, it is interesting to imagine how Remarque, Aldington, Tolkien and other representatives of the "lost generation" who fought on the Western Front felt.
