Squadron Leader and WW2 Ace, Major George Andrew Davis was the first American to become an Ace in 2 wars. He also did this spanning the propellors and jets eras. His WW2 experience helped him earn command of the 334th Fighter Squadron of the 4th Fighter wing in the Korean war. He excelled at the post, leading by example, and demanding strict discipline among his men. Under his leadership the squadron became one of the best battling for the Korean skies.
Davis grew to be so valuable that he became irreplaceable, it was protocol for Aces to be recalled back to the US, for their safety so they could teach their skills to the next generation of pilots, but Davis became so instrumental in his role that the Air Force couldn’t find anyone to take his place. And so, he remained fighting in Korea and seeing more action than ever. Just half a month after becoming an Ace, he became a Double Ace, claiming his 10th victory on December 13th.
But he met his end on February 10th, 1952 when providing cover for a group of F-84 Thunderjets across the infamous MiG Alley, where MiG patrols were common and numerous.
George Andrew Davis would be posthumously promoted to Lieutenant Colonel, as well as awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor and a Purple Heart for his valiant actions that day.

The animation could do with more vibration and momentum of weight. All the aircraft roll and pitch rate is too foamy like, yes it won't do better for close up shot as heavy turns are high speed but less angle/second but if seen from a far show the power of both the engine and hydraulics pumping the fins to get into the manuvers.

Bloody Hell, the first contact between the sides already blew me away. The filmography and angles are on point, like war film standards. And the flow doesn't stop. The gunnery is as impressive as ever, and so is the voices of the characters and narrator. The choice of stories has also always made clicking on a new video right away worth it. Ye great campfire storytellers of troubled times, remember to take breaks too. Hope gamer bread comes out soon.

@liran547 in 1954-1955 and 1958 the Chinese did attempt to attack Taiwan though. They even had landing ships but the United States Navy had ships in the area and stopped them before hand. 2:40 Just one issue. The MiG-15 has cannons, so the firing sounds should be deeper and less rapid.

@@jerrychan2851 I've heard actual Korean War pilots describe the firing sounds as "thump-thump-thump".

@@thelordofcringe 23mm actually, and there's a big difference in sound.

@@jerrychan2851 War Thunder has pretty accurate sounds for the MiG-15's guns, and they sounds very distinctive.

The quality of your videos is always astounding, as is the research you guys put into them. Thanks so much for making these vids, long may you continue to do so ^.^ There are 2 pilots from WW2 who would make great subjects for your vids, Wing Cmndr Adrian Warburton of 69 squadron and George Beurling of 249 squadron. Both were notable during the Battle For Malta between 1940 and 1943
