I had to re-upload this video because it was hit with 'Limited adds' and eventually shadow banned. But why Limited adds.? I think it's because KZbin has placed this channel on alert and is deliberately hitting these videos before it's even done uploading yet. What does Limited adds mean? It means that it will not get the views it would normally get and the video will fall out off KZbin's algorithm. Most of the time it will get adds back after review, sadly that's not working anymore. So i'm getting demonetized without breaking the KZbin guidelines. As a result my channel has been slowly dying and I really have no motivation to make any new videos and probably aren't going to anytime soon. Also most of the extra information in the comments, I always implemented is gone, just to not piss off the broken YT Bots even more.

The reason Wittmann was so successful in his Tiger was his gunner Bobby Woll, the two of them worked so well together that they could read each other's minds. Woll never missed and eventually he got command of his very own Tiger! After the D Day landings Wittmann's Tiger 🐅 tank unit was moved to Normandy to face the Allies. Woll's tank was damaged in an air attack and Wittmann knew that he was going to attack one of the best divisions in the British Army at Villers Bocage (he knew that fighting the Soviets was one thing but fighting the British was a completely different ball game!) so he borrowed Woll and left his own gunner with Woll's tank. That's why he was so successful in the Battle of Villers Bocage because he had the reliable and dependable Woll as his gunner once again. The worst place to fight Tiger 🐅 tanks was out in open country where it's ridiculously powerful 88mm gun could happily and easily knock put whatever it was pointed at and let's not forget that it was a devastatingly accurate weapon too. I'm getting a book about Panzer aces and their gunners with their scores- I bet that'll be a very interesting read!

@thatguyguy1741 Жыл бұрын
All the VK projects were called the H standing for Henschel, like the VK 45.01 (H) H1 with an 8.8 cm L/56 cannon, and a VK 45.01 (H) H2 with a 7.5 cm L/70 cannon. It has nothing to do with these production tanks, and the names was just a way to market these vehicles for scalemodel companies and game companies to sell their stuff. Typical stupid comments here ….Blitzreig only worked when the Luftwaffe had are Superiority , when radio contact called in Stukas to get rid of any stron points with Accurate 500 kg bombs thus allowing the panzers to roll on …after North Africa it was all over for the tigers , panthers and Mk4s ….in fact they could only be used in prepared defensive posistions relying on night time coming to move position…..Air piwer was and is all important…whether it’s a Stuka , Apache or drone ….Air power rules OK.
Best tank Tiger 1, it was a mistake the development of Panther with weak side armour and mechanical problems. This platform was the best. Tiger 1, Me 262's, 88mm cannon. This was the recipe of winning if they produced 3 times more of these.
@lyndoncmp57518 ай бұрын
The Panther was needed as a main tank to be built in large numbers to equip the panzer divisions and to eventually replace the Panzer IV (which didn't happen). The Tiger was only meant to be a limited number heavy tank.
@JamesJames-jt3ts8 ай бұрын
@@lyndoncmp5751 Yeah, but what would you like a Tger that was proven in combat or a new machine that sounds good on paper but malfunctions on the ground. Panther was a good concept to build in peace time or in a long war to have enough time to do the tests and improvements. What germans needed was only proven and tested weapons and in large numbers
@lyndoncmp57518 ай бұрын
@@JamesJames-jt3ts The Tiger couldn't equip the panzer divisions though. It was only meant to be built in limited numbers for heavy battalions. The Germans wanted a new 'medium' tank to be built in the thousands and equip the panzer divisions. They wanted a new mass produced tank superior to the T-34. Panther was started to be designed in early 1942 long before the Tiger ever saw combat in autumn 1942.
@JamesJames-jt3ts8 ай бұрын
@@lyndoncmp5751 All good but while the germans were in deep s#it a completely new tank design was not the best way to go. They should have ramped up the production of what was already reliable. I guess a panzer 4 in working order was more valuable than a Panther with a broken transmission abandoned on the field.
@lyndoncmp57518 ай бұрын
@@JamesJames-jt3ts The Panzer IV could not be improved after spring 1943. It reached the end of its evolution by then. The Panther was designed to not only overcome the current 1942 enemy tanks but also go toe to toe with the NEXT generation of enemy tanks, which the Panzer IV couldn't do. By the way, the Panzer IV in 1944 /45 only had a 8% higher operational average than the Panther. The Panther was the correct decision. Much superior to the Panzer IV and just as quick to produce. The Panzer IV, and Panzer III, failed to win Germany the war by 1943 don't forget. Stalingrad and El Alamein were nor lost by the Panther. No Panthers there.

It's interesting the differences between German war archive films vs US archive films of allied tanks, the Germans never reveal their shortfalls ie too few, mechanical issues, those destroyed by allies, transportation issues because of size etc, but US films show often shortfalls of allied tanks frequently and their destroyed tanks. And yes allies probably had more embedded photographers, and more tank casualties since they had 5 times more tanks. A tanks effectiveness is so much more than armor & firepower. Not to mention whether you are defending a position vs attacking in itself makes a significant difference.

As Germans advanced into vast Russia, they we’re gaining territory and massive influx of prisoners, but at the same time the German military force was suffering between fifty to one hundred thousand soldiers dead per month. Read lots of memoirs about the Eastern front. They were gaining but at the same time they couldn’t sustain the losses. And putting logistics to aside. Without the Swiss secret financial backing, Germany couldn’t continue the war for more than 6 months. The Swiss prolonged the WW2. No one talks about that.
