WW2 German Helmets - M34 Polizei helmets and M34 Firefighter Helmets

My first youtube videos - welcome to constructive criticism as i plan to improve the quality of these going forwards.
I am not affiliated and do not have any admiration etc. for the Nazi's or what they did in WW2. I am simply showing my WW2 collection to fellow collectors.

A long time ago I picked up an M34 civic helmet for cheap. It’s painted black and you can definitely tell a brush was used. Never really knew what to make of it so it just sits on the shelf.

@@Nick_B_Bad nice one - m34’s are fairly cheap to come by so it’s pretty common for them to get restored. You can add double decals to make it look nice period correct but the brush paint won’t be perfect as they were smooth paint. Still a nice item to have on display though

Very nice collection , I've got one , probably postwar fireman's helmet...I changed it to resemble a german ww2 police helmet. You look like you've got a decent collection there....good stuff. Nice to see another uk collector showing their collection and offering options and/or experience of buying certain items...there is a good community here on youtube and I've certainly learnt a lot and traded with the guys here....and I know b###er all!....so look forward to future videos, all the very best to you 😊😊😊😊

The 2 post war helmets are actualy produced in the 60s you can see this with the DIN19040 in it those are compleetly post war, also it a big myth that the non comb m34 is police, but this is compleetly wrong, the police never used these m34 helmets, they used another light weight helmet called the m34 edelstahl wich had the vent of the m35 but stil really cool helmets

Yeah, I learned afterwards the 2 fire helmets were post war and have since sold them. Are you sure the police never used them? I know they were mainly firefighter but the edelstahl helmet seems very rare - almost too rare for it to be used for a whole branch like the police (excluding the military/combat police)

@@LiamCWW2 yeah police never used them The Edelstahl variant is the lightweight helmet they used Together with m16-18 and m35-42

i must ask, why does the fire helmet have a comb? i know there are earlier variants with similar combs as well as other countries with Stahlhelm like helmets, also with said combs dedicated to firefighters

I'm not 100% up to date on the M34 helmets (I know more about the military ones) but I am fairly sure it was to absorb any potential impact from falling objects that land on the helmet. It also helps them visually stand out.

Forgotten: Not long ago firemens helmets in this stlye had been common, ten to fifteen years, in my Homeregion this comb was unknown, perhaps a Berlin thing.

Question where can I buy the cone for the top and the flap on there necks I can’t find it anywhere

Unfortunately it's almost impossible to buy a comb and neck flap separately unless you're lucky.. Well, I've never seen them for sale - you have to be careful as the comb in this video on the yellow helmet wouldn't fit the black helmet so there's that to consider too!

@@dylanpowell8122 sorry don’t have Instagram. Think you have to sensor stuff a lot on there just like Facebook.. liners are pretty hard to get hold of and tbh I’ve never even seen an m34 liner for sale - not sure why

They're easy to get. I know of a couple without decals for sale under 100EUR, but with decals more like 200-300. FIre helmets were actually post war so worth 50EUR or there abouts.
