You don't need a higher platform, in the field they'd just remove the roof of the cabin and lower the windshield on top of the hood, Gaijin just didn't want you to shoot forward.

The thing is in reality this thing was a designated anti-air vehicle. They probably didn’t load it with APHE so there’s no need for it to shoot straight forward

12:09 This is why I would reccomend SPAA players to carry majority HE rounds. On the FlakPanzer I, I carry roughly 3/4 HE and the remained HVAP since you don’t need that many to kill a tank if you can pen but shooting at aircraft does burn through ammo quite quickly.

Speaking of low tier Germany, I dont think I've seen anyone do the Sd.Kfz.251/9 yet. On the other hand, I managed to kill a T34 with a Swordfish in an 8.0 match the other day and I can assure you that High BR Swordfish Shenanigans are a ton of fun. Merry Christmas!

Ironically I wasn't shot down as much as I crashed attempting to maneuover away from return fire but at that point the mission was complete. Killed a Raketjagpanzer with one the other day too.

2:40 for german trucks like this, the canopy covering the cab and the windshield used to be able to fold out of the way SO the gun could face forwards, only thing is that it could A: hit the driver on a turn. B: very excessively loud gun firing next to the driver. and with your theory of mounting the gun higher up, center of balance would knock the truck over if it shot sideways. It’s good to see you post again though!!!!

when i was grinding the spaas , i used this for a long time because i didnt go past the sdkfz for a while , then the next spaa was rlly fun and wirbel too, now im on ostwind l if you want the same experience but with more pen than that , go for the double barreled zis spaa in tier 1 ussr

WOW ! ! My Dad was a German soldier during WW II and THIS looks almost exactly like the gun my Dad fought on. The only difference is that Dad's gun was a 20mm and this one is a 37mm. There were only 600 of these made during the war and Dad fought on one of them. Dad spent from Nov 1942 to June 1944 in Russia and was happy to get transferred to Normandy after D-day. My Dad got an Iron cross 4th class in Russia once when the rest of the crew went into a nearby town on foot and Dad stayed behind to guard the gun. Dad dozed off but woke up a little later when the sound of yelling Russian soldiers came close. Dad jumped into the driver's seat ( he wasn't the driver btw) and started it up and tore off down the road away from the Russians. One of the safety requirements of relocating this unit was that you had to hold the gun still on it's pivot by chaining the gun to the firing platform. Well . . Dad didn't have time for that and Russian roads were seldom straight so Dad was careening down a curving road with Russian vehicles in hot pursuit and that gun was spinning around like crazy. Once Dad got to the town where the rest of the crew was, they laid down some covering fire that backed off the Russians and everyone in the company was asking Dad to retell his crazy escape story. He got even more famous when his Iron cross arrived😊

I've worked my way through the first part of the German TT a long while ago, and pretty much looked past this thing (I find the handling of these half tracks to be abysmal...especially in stock) but looks like I have an excuse to have some low-tier fun and spade out this bad boy as well. Thing looks the part though with that big ole 37mm strapped on the back of a half track. Good stuff!

There's another vehicle that I really like that's pretty similar to this, the Type 94 SPAA on the Japanese techtree; it has the same 48 mils of pen and when you get it in a high traffick area on a flank it can do a ton of damage the main difference between it and this vehicle is the Type 94 is magazine fed, so you have to flush you magazine quite often in anticipation of tougher targets coming at you Could be really fun in a video brought up to 1.7 as well and even in an uptier against some 2.7 vehicles!

I like to use the other one with the single 20mm cannon as TD. More than enough pen to deal with the majority of tanks at that BR and because of the fast traverse it’s easy to open fire first.

This reminds me of my main lineup. I run the Ostwind and Wirbelwind all the time at 3.7, taking them out sometimes without ever spawning a proper tank. The ME 410 with the 50mm is nasty as well. Default ammo in that so you have HE for the open tops. Such a fun lineup that also falls into Rank 3 for battle pass grinding.

I’m a destroyer of worlds with this truck as long as I’m not put in an up ranked BR. Teammates are usually disappointed with my choice until they see me moving in reverse blasting everything in sight. As long as you hang on the outskirts of the fighting you have a good chance at kills/assists. Cromwells are the bane of this things existence though.

13:00 my favourite place to go with East spawn on this map is ~G3-H3. There's a brutal bushline right on the edge of the map that you can get into and shoot at anyone trying to use the ridgeline just south of A, and you can push up to that ridgeline, clear it, and start getting some nasty side shots that completely cuts off any reinforcements to B. The T55E1 is really good at this because of the low profile, good gun and great speed at 4.3

If you're thinking about playing Swedish SPAA then I recommend the PBV301, even at 2.3 it's quite fun to play and it's a great AA, it burns through ammo quick though so keep that in mind!

Odd, if you like this, you should play the L-62 ANTI II in the sweedish tree. 2.7 BR, rapid firing 40mm, and the APHE will one shot even the largest tanks with the most crew (like the Lee). And the turret can shoot over the front of the tank.

I struggled with the Swedish Hot Tub Time Machine. On paper and in Phly's vid from last year it rages, but for me it fires too slow to be a decent AAA and its round just doesn't seem to have the oomph to deal with 2.7-3.7 (Soviet) tanks you're constantly facing. Would love to see you tackle it.

Day 3 of proposing the challange I came up with to Odd: The cxhallenge is called "Basket Bomb": Your goal is to acuurately drop a bomb into any open top tanks' turret basket (e.g. M10 / M18 / the big german td's / the german AA's etc.)! Extra points if you use a very low-tier aircraft like a biplane, for the funnies. I think that would be extremely fun and it would make me so happy if you gave it a try

I was never good with this thing, I didn't like the pen and the gun was hard to use and slow, then I started using it after getting a kill with it in SIM mode somehow, and now I quite like it, especially in arcade, but my favourite thing about it is the *_sound_* when the gun fires, so loud and beefy for a 37, shame the ostwind doesn't sound like it

Idk if u might wanna do a video on this but for some reason the flak 88 unlike every other 88mm overpressures any tank it pens. U can shoot a sherman straight into the transmission and even without shrapnel at least 3 if not all crew members die Edit: Specifically it's the "Pzgr" shell that u can also find on the Tiger H1 and Tiger E which has 285g of TNT equivalent
