When I was a small boy I remeber a converted MTB used as a pleasure craft between poole and swanage.

It was quite a common use for them after leaving RN service.

I remember those. When I was at school we went on a sailing holiday to Salcombe. The Island Cruising Club had two Fairmile mgb's as accommodation in the harbour. Our home afloat for the week.

You'll be proud of your father in law, his exploits and memory. Of all the roles our boys did in WW2, MTB crew is what I'd have chosen to do.

Thank you for the video great! I thought the mast tops were removed due to the weight of them causing damage to the hull of the victory and not for maintenance (fake info.?). I have been to see the victory three times over the last 15

The top masts were certainly there when I visited previous to this in 2012. They may be restored when the new support structure for the hull is fully installed.

As a teenager growing up in Tauranga in our Historic village there was a sizeable Tug on land that helped to evacuate Soldiers from Dunkirk used to run around and play on it all the time it’s since been sold for scrap very sad, also when I was much younger there was a Hurricane mounted on plinths in a park in Morrinsville which still had all the controls and you were able to sit in the cockpit and play with the gauges and control stick that has disappeared decades ago someone with deep pockets brought it the Morrisville RSA has a Bofors out the front you could sit in and elevate depress and rotate it but in the last few years it’s been welded in place due to the wowsers and snowflakes ❄️

+Tropics and Ocreans Glad you enjoyed! The life jackets are reproduction, I believe they were made by Steve Kiddle. Look forward to seeing the Lightning vids, will keep an eye out!
