It was great seeing BBG join you again. She is a brave young woman diving in the water amongst the wreckage. To think there were 11 German Destroyers there, and only 1 survived because of the Captain's decision. Many lives lost needlessly or changed forever. Congrats, EE, on accomplishing another dream. Also, thanks for telling your Dad about your find so we could experience your dream. Thanks for taking us inside HH , at your own risk. I'm looking forward to P2. What else did you find? Stay safe and keep smiling. You all deserve a big ❤.

Your daughter deserves a Courage Award 🎖️ for diving on a WW II wreck! Very impressive! So did the Captain order most of the sailors onto the top deck, prior to impact! I wonder what their speed was, just prior to impact?

in late 70s my cousin who was in Sandhurst academy as a naval trainee send us battle ship models which with the help of my late father we glued together. for a long time we had the models of Battleship Tirpitz and aircraft carrier Nimitz displayed in a showcase at home. this brought back memories from Bangladesh.

Well done HH. Great video of the wreck, a lot left but cold water helps with that. EE nice to see one small dream completed early in life. Great to see BBG back in the videos, even if you are not walking the top safety rail of a gun pit. How was the water? Does it stay clear for a good depth? HH, do we know when she capsized, and was it from naval fire or just weight on the rocks. Looked like you were, at the end, in the port side anchor chain locker. Can't wait for episode 2 and the ROV to see what is left. Great job all, stay safe and well. Replacement gripper ships in a couple of days.

Wow!! Once again you surpass yourselves not only do you go above the call of duty but also below ,as HH did in exploring this iconic wreck. Another very different adventure, interesting and educational. I've been watching your adventures for so many years that I remember 2 young children tagging along with Dad on adventures. Now I see a grown BBG and EE is following closely behind. Certainly BBG hasn't lost any of her desires to go boldly forward and explore it seems that EE is also picking up that trait. You've taught and supported these young folk well HH and I know you're proud of them. I suspect you passed on that adventurer bug to both of them. Holy cow! You have all officially been awarded the Indiana Jones prize haha. Seriously this is absolutely stunning! I'd never heard of this particular engagement of the war, and I'm stunned that the wreckage is still there, and in good enough condition that you can make out the parts. Thank you for being so adventurous that you crawled into the hull of the ship so we can see what's left. Like Eagle Eyes, I'd also consider it a life-long dream to actually touch history like that. I did want to also give massive regards to EE for being the ultimate trooper again, and for having the observation skills to find the location in the first place. Awesome stuff!

Wow that was amazing. Of course we can't tell, due to how camera lenses capture images, how cramped the place really was, but it definitely looked tight and between sharp surfaces and protruding pieces everywhere. I feel for poor Hans, Friedrich and Wilhelm, hope they made it out alright haha! It was the captain's decision after all, I hope nobody needed to be down there at the moment! And to think that destroyers were among the smallest vessels, yet ,,small" is actually... 120 meters! Huge! Oh and your daughter so brave in going down there, must've been awesome, all the wildlife in the Fjord, never imagined it'd be warm enough up north there to the point of being able to swim. Awesome video, thank you so much, can't wait to see the next part!

Was wonderful seeing BBG & EE in front of you off for another adventure. You must be so very proud of them. That was a pretty little stream. I bet it felt refreshing, splashing some water on your face HH. The banked German Kriegsmarine Destroyer was a sight to behold. I won't pretend to know what the German soldiers went through. So many lost lives. 😢 I can understand this also being on your wish list HH, having been an ex sub sonar operator. Your childhood must have been so exciting and educational, traveling to so many countries on a boat. To think that, that Destroyer was 120 M long and went 36 knots per kilometre- wow. EE that must have been a thrill for you to embark on the ship. A dream come true. Thank you for taking us inside HH as it was a very dangerous undertaking. BBG was extremely courageous for diving in around the wreckage. Bravery runs in the family. That was beyond amazing. Thank you HH, BBG, and EE. Definitely looking forward to seeing more. I mean...you could always come to the states...see 'em afloat, we got New Jersey (second most decorated warship in the US Navy only bested by the Gray Ghost herself, Enterprise (CV-6), Alabama, Laffey, and many more warships (to many to count) @WW2HistoryHunter, if y'all could afford to, coming stateside to see some of the stuff we got as war-prizes would be cool to see as an adventure. As long as you got a license, and a month to spare, 'cuz lemme tell ya, there aint no counting on buses, trains, taxi's the like outside of the big cities. Sherman's are all over the place, various classes of battleship still afloat (these are the Iowa's, half the South Dakota's, North Carolina, and Texas respectively), and I'm not sure on what it is, but we do have a railway gun that was either captured, or taken as a war prize. Also various Tigers, Panthers, and U-505...seriously worth every visit, and look around.

I have watched your channel for quite some time and I applaud you , your son and daughter for your exploring actions and special attention to detail . They have picked up your love of history . There is a type 21submarine in Germany as a museum ship that was commissioned into service right at the end of the war and was scuttled at the end of the war instead of turning it over to the Allies . The U-boat number was the U-2540. Please tell your daughter to be very careful she should try SCUBA DIVING at the site but watch out for those BITTING BIG FISH . They tend to scare the heck out of people !...!...!

How lovely to see one of EE's dreams come true! This is a great video and you were certainly brave to go inside that rotting hull and to get that excellent footage. It was a plucky decision of the Captain to ram the destroyer and I wonder what happened to him and his crew. My first thought when I saw the fjord was the wreck, or what's left, of the Tirpitz. Looking forward to the next instalment. Best wishes to all of you!

Do you guys have any WWII museum ships you can visit? Fascinating to look around in, and really cool to stand on! Destroyers are especially interesting to me, so much stuff crammed onto such a small ship- and 300+ people lived and worked there. I'm not far from the USS The Sullivans. Those Fletcher class destroyers were armed to the teeth- literally bristling with weaponry. Destroyer is a good name for them, lol. Sullivans is in a 1950's configuration. Both center mounted quintuple torpedo tubes removed (and replaced by 2 triple anti--submarine launchers one deck lower, one on each side at the waist.); Mount 53 removed; aft twin Bofors mount replaced with a twin 3"/50 mount. etc. She originally had 3 of those 3" mounts, but the 2 forward ones were swapped out for twin Bofors mounts for the museum. (so people could see both) Hedgehog mounts up front, depth charge racks at the fantail, and K-gun depth charge launchers along both rails. Plus a bunch of Oerlikon 20mm mounts. Your destroyer seems to have comparable firepower. (WWII version, anyway) A LOT of "Reach out and TOUCH Someone" on a small, fast ship. For enlisted accomodations, you got to share a compartment not much bigger than a living room with 29 or so of your best friends! Bunks were stacked 4 high!! I'd hate to be the bottom guy, when those in the upper bunks got seasick... And I'm sure more than a few got stomped on when general quarters sounded, lol. There were various ship's systems crammed in that space, too. It really struck me- there's NO place that's not stuffed with important stuff, and thus no place you could safely take a hit and not lose something important. But, take hits they did- and kept on fighting. Also, those 5" turrets you see in the pictures? Splinter protection only. Just thin steel sheeting- it'll keep the weather off , but not much else. I was NOT expecting the walls to be so thin. Gave me a whole new appreciation for those men! The priorities here were firepower, speed and endurance. The compromise was protection.

Thank you all, HH, EE and BBG, for trekking out to this amazing wreck. And huge thanks HH, for showing us the inside of the George Thiele. That was definitely a once in a lifetime viewing, that very, very, few of us will ever see. It is hard to imagine that this, twisted, upside down wreck, slowly rusting away into the fjord, was once a living, thriving, ship, but seeing inside, and the small vestiges of her past life, the pipes, the wiring, helped to give a small glimpse of that almost forgotten life. So cool that you, EE, and BBG, could realise the dream of actually touching a real Kriegsmarine ship. Such an amazing moment for all of you. And for us. So proud to support the best team, and the best channel. Looking forward to the underwater explore of this fascinating wreck! Cheers to you all! Stay Safe!
