But when I was in fourth grade I loved evil dead, predator, vampire hunter D, RoboCop, starship troopers, and by 6th grade we would have cheeky looks at Skinemax until porn on Limewire became a thing. And most people are already fooling around by 14/15 So yeah, definitely not that big of a deal for anyone over 13, but a funny promo

Fun Fact: The united states declared war on iraq about an hour before the title match went to the ring, they were watching the joint session of congress in which president George H,W Bush publicly announced that "a state of war now exists between america her allies and iraq" and vince is said to have commented "well, we're fucked now".

Haha almost as pointless a war as the fake one in Grenada, took a decade later for the sequel to actually go in for the oil. Saddam was a dictator in our pocket we propped up, wed only toppled democratically elected ones or had CIA led coups for ones that didnt submit for decades. But then Saddam wanted to break away and we went in and toppled him, absolutely insane. It goes back to WW1 Sykes Picot agreement where the allies redrew the borders to get all the oil in one area haha. Honestly US foreign policy post WW2 is purely resource wars, proxy battles and forced annexations, zero moral high ground or just cause and it's insane so many people are cool with it.

It was all a setup for Hogan to win back the title and be the American hero at Wrestlemania 7.
@TherealRNOwwfpooh7 ай бұрын
@@eriktaylor1225 It's honestly kind of sad, since the whole reason Sarge was saddled with the Iraqi Sympathizer gimmick, beyond the highly probable fact that "The Immortal" Hulk Hogan likely complained that there simply couldn't be two all-American patriotic good guys in the main event (even fellow patriot "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan was relegated to low mid-card status during Hulk Hogan's prominence AND even though Ultimate Warrior VS Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 6 the year prior was a rare face VS face Champion VS Champion Double Title Match won by the face-painted dynamo, American pride wasn't the crux of that storyline, but more over, the focal point instead hinged upon the possible torch pass that was supposed to see "The Hulkster" give up his main eventer's position to his frenetic, face-painted successor, only for Ultimate Warrior to fail at being the new top guy, subsequently prompting the company to revert back to revolving the product around Hulk Hogan upon his very brief return back to the company) & the fact that Mr. McMahon sought to exploit the circumstances surrounding a real-life war (the First Gulf War, brought on by Iraqi dictator Saddam's invasion of the annexed Kuwait, which went against United Nations regulations & ked to Operation: Desert Storm), much to the detriment of the overall product & the chagrin of the entire audience -- both the live crowd & the television viewers watching at home -- was because when Sarge left the World Wrestling Federation during Hulk Hogan's prior ascent to the top of the proverbial mountain, he was allowed to appear on _The Super Mario Bros. Super Show_ (opposite Captain Lou Albano as the first live-action Mario), but most notably, he was prominently featured on _G.I. Joe: Real American Hero_ as a character (to the point of even having multiple action figures based on his animated _G.I. Joe_ appearance made by toymaker Hasbro) and, obviously, Vince McMahon didn't like the fact that Sarge had managed to become successful outside of his in-ring career due the _G.I. Joe_ toy line's association with Hasbro, so when Sarge returned to the company, he was given the Iraqi Sympathizer gimmick as punishment for the _G.I. Joe_ success outside of the wrestling industry & because, again, Mr. McMahon chose to make light of a real-life war, rather tastelessly, which was, partially, why the venue for WrestleMania 7 was changed, although the company, in kayfabe, used potential bomb threats against the outdoor stadium as its excuse for relocating WrestleMania 7 to the smaller sports arena, instead.

Sgt. Laughter with his shoulder-sized chin saying "The Ultimate Puke" is still one of the funniest moments in wrestling. The way he says it as if he's telling a story of his college fraternity days. "And then...it happened... The ultimate puke...". I remember seeing the Sherri/Warrior bit with my dad who rarely watched wrestling. We were both uncomfortable because he was the "violence is fine for a kid to watch but any level of sexuality is too much" type. I remember just wanting it to end. Then Warrior's goofy wild headshaking before finally yelling "NO!!!" made us laugh. "Go on, Warrior. Tell them what an honorable man you are" - Warrior looks to the camera and smiles as if to say "Me? Honorable?"

Jake was to good to win...it may sound even weirder but Roberts was better then wins.
@kieranowens370210 жыл бұрын
He was a bit too good, really. He didn't need the push as bad as other superstars did at the time.
@essej49446 жыл бұрын
yah but by 91 he was starting to get a bit stale and viewers were starting to realise this guys never going to be at the very top. I think he did a lot of favors for other guys, and could have asked more fromm the business for himself. Still a Royal Rumble win...what does it really do for your career in the long run? ie: Duggan, John Studd.
@rustykuntz944 жыл бұрын
It was a crime they never put at least the IC belt on Jake for such an iconic character
@kjuergens19854 жыл бұрын
I agree. And wins are not just about who "needs" them…but if we're playing that game, did Hulk "need" to win the Rumble? Jake would have been a welcome change. Even if a guy is already over, it's rewarding for the fans to see him get a meaningful win now and then.

Everyone always says Tugboat attacked Hogan but if you watch closely, you'll see Tugboat getting double teamed in the corner. Hogan comes over and hits the two guys on Tugboat, then climbs up and starts hitting Tugboat.

I still say Pat Tanaka was criminally underrated. The ORIGINAL Orient Express should have gotten a title run, even if it was only a transitional reign

I always found it hilarious when Warrior says “the only people who would follow you are those who are demented”. It’s as though he transitioned from a promo into a job interview.

The promos in the first 2 minutes are better than the last 10 years of WWE combined. I know it sounds cliche, but wrestling was SOOO MUCH BETTER, COOLER, FUN & ENTERTAINING in the 80s and 90s.

@TheMrBmurray4 жыл бұрын
Even if his words are lame, Slaughter's voice was over enough to make it work. Vince ran with Warrior for as long as he could get away with hoping business would pick up. Nothing had changed when WrestleMania was two PPV events away, so he proceeded to scramble to find a transition guy and get the belt back on Hogan. It usually goes, when the new guy/direction fails you go with what you know could draw. Seven years prior to this event Sgt. Slaughter was a popular babyface for the company, 2nd only to Hogan. I mean, GI Joe injected his character into their show--if that's not over, then what is? With the war in Iraq, and Slaughter's military man caricature, just paint him as a traitor and you got an instant heel.

The Sherrie segment was hot but warrior no sold it, He was awesome for that, The Barbarian and Bossman match was one of the best one for the ages, no they are not both fat they really sold that match to the public if you that match with dedication you will see all the hard work gone in to it so you should respect it and give it credit as both characters have given it all quite a bit in the ring and thats adorable to see that, the wrestling in the old days was the best, these guys were okay to watch
