I watched the Cena v Styles match again and I have to say - they told a great story in an amazing match. Cena coming out while booed and left with everyone cheering. The back and forth of submissions was spectacular as well, just great

That doesn't really make it pointless. Plenty of wrestlers have been in matches only to be in the rumble later on. Reigns along with other wrestlers can do both a match and then the rumble.

Even though Jericho rested on the outside for alot of it, still a terrific performance. If you count his Greatest Royal Rumble match, he's damn near 5 hours total in the Royal Rumble ! No one else is close. Triple H is just under 4 hours. If you like that longevity stuff, check out the 1991 and 2009 Rumble Matches (I'm positive you already know).

Yeh OR Chris just could've just ya know not gone in the shark tank at all. It's a pretty contradictory match type though, no rules except for that one rule where Chris is in a tank not involved in the match so really there are rules in this no dq match even though that rule in itself was broken.

Well I think they realized that since Roman vs KO has happened so many times that if they had it as just a singles match then it would feel like the same match they have had 4 times already. No DQ added flavor to the match and made it quite entertaining with all the cool spots they did. When if it was just a normal match even me the biggest KO fanboy would have probably checked out half way threw due to feeling like I have seen the same match I just saw at Roadblock and 5 weeks ago on Raw.

i'm fine with orton winning the rumble, but i'm dreading cena v orton #243545645 at wrestlemania. minus the rumble, it was an A+ show. all the other matches were great. styles v cena was phenomenal. i'm with you on hating on john cena. sure, you can hate the gimmick, but the man can put in work in the ring. owens v reigns was probably their best match to date. bayley v charlotte and neville v swann both had some good story telling to go along with the matches. the rumble was very enjoyable until #30 (which isn't odd because they usually go downhill at that point because most of the surprise is gone), but got a little clunky near the end. i did appreciate how it had a "anyone can win it" feel to it, which is refreshing after knowing exactly who would win in the previous 4-5 years.

oh, i'd much rather see it, too. but it seems like more of a summerslam title match than a wrestlemania title match. it's just not your typical wrestlemania booking where your biggest stars have the belt. they would also have to turn bray face pretty fast, which won't be easy with the luke harper stuff going on. and face it, no one wants to see a face orton anymore. he's a natural heel and needs to stay that way.

That's what I thought until this PPV. He's a decent wrestler but gets way too many title opportunities and is forced down our throats. I mean, AJ and Balor are my two favourite wrestlers in WWE and if they had had several lost title shots over the past few months, a title shot at the Royal Rumble AND the number 30 pick, I'd be pissed at them too. He's not a bad wrestler but he IS a bad character, and that's what matters. It's entertainment so if they don't book him right (Which they don't) then people are gonna hate him.

Taker has already stated that he retires at wm34. I hope that they dosent waste the last wm match on roman. Even though roman is ok in the ring and can put on some nice matches (Brock, AJ and Rollins) it should be Cena vs the dead man, or The phenomenal one vs the phenom (see what i did there) enal one, Demon vs Demon. So many other posibilities and so little time to do it. Taker should be fighting cena and Roman should be fighting Braun

The pyramid of chairs was a great example of what I like to call "Sabu's Table." Back in the day Sabu would often set up a table at ringside near the beginning of the match, tease a spot with the table, then get sidetracked/cut off and the action would go in another direction. But you could always depend on the fact that they'd come back to that table towards the end of the match and somebody (often Sabu himself) would be going through it. It's a great bit and I love to see stuff like that.

it's sad how someone as talanted as Gallagher is being used for comedy... I really enjoyed the Rumble. I think start to finish it was a very good show. Matches were all quality, some good, some great (Cena v Styles 3). Really liked the Rumble match. It did a great job at setting up what we can expect to see moving forward to Wrestlemania. Thought Roman at the end was a legitimate twist that swerved the fans. He's gonna be the default heel against the Undertaker and that seems to be the plan for Mania, so they sewed the seeds there. Brock v Goldberg has more fuel. Bray v Randy is set up. Overall I enjoyed it. Wasn't as high on the women's title match. Roman v Owens was solid. Neville v Swan was good.

The only real surprise entrant to the rumble was William the third, it was really disappointing to have both Joe and Tyler Bate in the crowds at takeover and then not use them at all (hell, they could have even just had a backstage segment between Bate and Neville, to build the UK show that might happen)

Halfway through you could tell this was bad not intriguing at all and seemed like we were just waiting for someone new or Goldberg, Brock,Taker to come out who had 5 MINUTES in the Rumble. Randy winning is creatively a mistake John Cena 16th champ...............AJ needed to hold this title now that the title is off of him that promo Cena cut on him makes AJ look bad.

Thomas Jenkins Yes, but losing it to the man he beat takes the credibility away from those wins, for John Cena to get his win back and finally prove that what Cena said on Smackdown "I let you hold that title" with AJ just standing there not doing anything has officially tainted Styles, Cena who is a part timer and now champ while AJ is on every Smackdown I'm sorry i just can't say this wasn't a mistake for what? So they can make Cena a 16th time champ . I like to defend WWE from time to time but this was a bad PPV.

The spot with the brass knucks took me out of the Owens/Reigns match completely and I couldn't buy into the rest of it. William Regal knocked people out with "the Power of the Punch" with just a twist of the hips and a light swing, Roman Reigns gets hit full on with a brass knucks superman punch from an almost 300lb man and kicks out seconds later. I cant suspend my disbelief enough to accept that. What makes it even worse for me is Reign didn't sell any kind of damage from that match at all when entered the Rumble. He was battered with chair, superman punched with brass knucks, blindsided and laid out by Strowman and put through two tables then he appears at the end of the Rumble looking perfectly fine and running at 100%

Honestly, this was the best Royal Rumble since 2011. Cena vs Styles is already my 2017 match of the year. I'm also satasified that Orton won, he was in my top five to win going in to the match. I really hated the lack of surprises, it should've been another 40 man rumble. But in the end I'd grade it an A-.
