Can't imagine how this would feel as a WCW fan. Knowing the very last Nitro was used to promote a McMahon feud, just like spitting on the grave at that point.

WCW never did anything to the WWF that they hadn't already done to the territories in the 80s. I always hated how Vince and stooges like Bruce Prichard tried to act like the WWF was some mom & pop store up against Walmart with WCW in all their propaganda documentaries from the 2000s.

@@billcutler9425 And who does it benefit in the long run? You insult a new viewer base and give them less reason to tune into the WWF if nothing else out of spite. The talent feels like they are second class citizens which is a problem cause a few of those guys do come to work for the WWF. Nobody comes out looking good because of this.

Growing up in rural Arizona, we only had a few channels, none of which had WWF. We had WCW. This was the night I stopped watching wrestling. I rememeber being so pissed that I couldn't find out what happened until after it was all sud'n'dun. By the time we got USA, I didn't care anymore.

I remember the night this RAW aired. I missed the first hour of this RAW episode because when Vince said at the beginning of the show that Nitro is having it's last episode I immediately was shocked and turned the channel to TNT to watch the last hour of Nitro. Watching Nitro over RAW is something I NEVER did but since it was the last Nitro I had to watch.

In the Invasion storyline they should have brought Bischoff back as WCW's owner and had Heyman as ECW's owner. Shane and Stephanie had nothing whatsoever to do with either company so making them kayfabe owners of WCW and ECW just because they were Vince's son and daughter was nothing but nepotism. It should have been all 3 companies against each other too not WCW and ECW vs WWF like it was. Vince also should have bought out the Time Warner contracts of the bigger WCW stars like Sting, Goldberg, Hogan, Hall, Nash and so on and brought them in instead of being a cheapskate and only bringing them all in years after The Invasion ended. Hell the NWO could have been brought in as lone wolves who were against WWF, WCW and ECW.

It is probably the single biggest missed opportunity in the history of wrestling. We could have had a new Monday night war, and WWE could have laughed all the way to the bank, winning on both sides. But, as with everything he touches, WWE instead chose to make it all about McMahons. It was obvious what the fans wanted, but it was also obvious that McMahon and creative didn't care what we all wanted.
@MINERVAtheDREAMEATER

I agree but i definitely think the invasion would have gone a little better if stephanie kayfabe owned WCW and shane owned ECW since he was always jumping off of shit. Probably would have gotten messed up either way but would have made slightly more sense.

There best bet would have been waiting to do it till most of the bigger WCW guys big money deals with Turner had finished so they could bring them the main issue was there was no one in WCW who was on par with Rock Austin and the like if they had got WCW back on tv like the original idea and build them up then do it you might have a working angle

Nigel Frrrunkis I’m not sure about its status in 2001, but there are a lot of dry counties in Ohio, where this Raw took place (Cleveland, OH). They have early cutoff hours for sales and some counties are completely dry. It could be that Cleveland, or the county it’s located in, prohibited alcohol sales and all they could get, or use, was non-alcoholic beer.

Timestamp for this is around 56:36 It's 720p and the blast processing can only do so much, but yep... kayfabe is dead with that non-alcoholic beer. And the event didn't take place in a dry town/county as suggested by another comment. There's no getting around it... Stone Cold is a BIG PHONY who doesn't wanna get sh-tfaced on REAL BEER like a REAL MAN! Unless... Rock secretly (and dastardly) called for a non-alcoholic beer just to taunt (the non-phony real man) Steve Austin while he was unable to spit that pansy water back in Rock's face. 😤

I liked the gimmick but it made no sense storyline or character wise. There was no explanation for how he went from a supernatural undead revenant to a normal human biker. Also, WWE should absolutely bring back Halloween Havoc, and make the event all gimmick matches. Steel Cage, TLC, Falls Count Anywhere, etc. They could even bring back the Casket Match, and it would be the only time that it wouldn't be completely specific to Undertaker.

I was honestly sad at this time. My fav wrestler has always been sting Ali immediately thought of him. Can’t deny it was badass by Vince tho. He literally won. Hadn’t even realized the Jeff Jarrett thing cause it seemed sus but oh I soon realized week after week that it was real.

24:27 Jay: “Did you pick up any of the gimmick matches?” “The closest he had was the Elimination Chamber.” It took them 16 years but they finally put out the actual WarGames match even if it was for NXT. Even with the cage not having the roof on it, it was still the WG match with the two rings and the double cage. PPVs: The Great American Bash, Clash Of Champions (would that count even if it’s just a renaming of the Night Of Champions PPV?) and the (then) recent Starrcade house show. That’s about it (from thinking and the recent stuff at least.) And I do wish that they could use the Halloween Havoc name. (2021/22 Update: NXT is using Great American Bash and Halloween Havoc for some of their special TV episodes/major shows and WarGames was used for Survivor Series in 2022.)
