A big improvement in this game from HCTP is that you can always be in a storyline. If you don’t win the rumble you have the survivor series storyline with the diva. There’s also the Trish storyline at Mania and the Vince storyline at Mania. In HCTP you can be left off the show if you don’t get a storyline.

And if you lose the rumble In hctp your season is over and you’ll be put in basically filler matches if you have high superstar points or if you have championships you’ll defend your championships weekly

Really think Challenge Mode was such a fun way to unlock stuff, rather than just leaving stuff behind in a shopzone, but I think that also works fairly well here. I'll just always really miss Season Mode though, but yes... it is sexualized for today's standards. But that said it is just a representation of WWE at the time. Also, I share my birthday with Eddie. May he rest in peace #VivaLaRaza

I got this the Christmas of 04 too when I was 8. This was my first new/current wrestling game. I my first wrestling game was Smackdown Shut Your Mouth which I got earlier in 04. I got Here Comes the Pain in 2005. Then after that, I started to get the current wrestling game every Christmas until I started to buy them myself on the release date,

yumboy,i personally think you are the person on KZbin to record a Playthrough of a WWE Game,abd here's why. 1: The fact that you always set the difficulty to the most difficult setting makes it 10× more entertaining to watch! 2: Your awesome commentary. I feel like whenever i watch someone record this game,you're the only person to make Commentary that i actually like. 3: Out of all of the people that i have watched record this game,you are the most skilled at the game. First of all, love your content! So to this game, when it came out, I loved it. The voice-overs in season mode were a huge plus to me, as I couldn’t read the text in older games. I also really appreciated the ring announcer, so I always knew who I was playing as. The soundtrack was fantastic, was so happy to be introduced to breaking Benjamin. Playing it now, I still find it very enjoyable, but I do think in several ways it is a step back from here comes the pain. The season mode seems a lot more limiting, the roster naturally isn’t nearly as good and just a few little things like the grapple moves in create a move set being somewhat broken.

Smackdown soda and that weird Mr. Socko RAW attitude energy drink... does anyone remember those? Anyways, I love this game, but not as much as SYM and HTCP before it or SVR 2006 and 2007 after it. SVR 2006 is still my all-time favourite wrestling game. The mini-games and Challenge Mode in the original SVR were cool, the gameplay was fun and Season Mode was awesome. That being said, some things were lacking like backstage areas and the creation suite (When compared to its sister game on Gamecube, WWE Day of Reckoning.... well, there's no comparison. DoR is probably the only wrestling game ever where you can accurately re-create Mewtwo from Pokemon... seriously). I give the original SVR game a solid 7/10. P.S. I'd love it if you can do a Day of Reckoning story mode in the future

I've always wondered what happened to the tag titles for both raw and smackdown as well as the women's title and cruiserweight belt. You can not play with them in season mode at all was a step down from HCTP. It sucked

Don't get me wrong Smackdown VS Raw was a good game but I wish they'd kept the same gameplay like Here Comes the Pain, Shut your mouth and Just bring it. We need a wrestling game like it used to be tbh because 2K is not going to do anything they repeat their self over and over and over they just need to give up tbh lol. We need someone have their own brand and make their franchise wrestling like THQ. I hope in the future we get all the legends in current rosters and make a badass WWF /WWE games🤘🤘🤘 or just remastered all the series of SmackDown but add more wrestlers.
