Roman Reigns will always be a heel at this point. Everyone hates him because, quite honestly, he's all look and no talk or skill. They needed to push the women and kids over the edge, so they took advantage of 'Taker retiring (which is not official yet unless I missed the news). I feel like this was a handing the torch type thing, look forward to a Reigns going dark or something against Bray in the future, possibly even 'Taker himself "teaching" Reigns. I don't know, I feel like Reigns is going to grow as a character because of this, we can only hope.

For me, My favorite Undertaker memories are from around his program with Batista around Wrestlemania 23 Starting with the Royal Rumble in 2007. I was 14 at the time and both men seemed so dominant and huge superstars. I didn't get to watch the PPV's at that time so my most vivid memory is that Steel Cage Match on Smackdown when Both men's feet touched the floor at the same time. Undertaker was covered in Blood and Retained the title, Only for Mark Henry to come back at beat up the Undertaker. AND THEN, Edge cashed in his money in the Bank. My 14 year old self was losing it, this was the most insane thing I had ever seen. That moment had me hooked on wrestling from then on. So for that and for everything else, Thank you Taker

Bertie Wooles that steel cage match lives in my mind so much,it was a great match but edge cashing in is what made me a edge head! Fantastic match and memory
@PhantomofDB7 жыл бұрын
You unfortunately missed out on a lot if you were 14 at WM 23. The biggest memories for me were 1. in the 1994 time frame, when i was about 12. He was actually showing signs of being human - yokozuna and half the locker room putting him in the casket and then the rebirth. And then in 1997/1998 the entire buildup of the kane storyline. Those were incredible times to be watching.

RedPugie Thank you! Taker just took the world on an emotional roller coaster, anger, love, respect, like we haven't had in a long time. He did what he could, for as long as he could, and left helping somebody's momentum. A true legend in all regards.
@CoryTheRaven7 жыл бұрын
I think the issue is that it DIDN'T give Roman any momentum. Of course Taker should have lost to somebody, to give the rub like you're supposed to in wrestling (except that was already diminished by his previous loss to Lesnar). But WWE didn't capitalize on it. Roman is STILL the same boring guy nobody cares about, getting X-Pac heat. Had they pulled the trigger on the heel turn, that would have used the opportunity well. Roman could do something dastardly to win over Taker and become a heel, and be propelled into somebody people want to watch instead of somebody people boo because they don't want him around anymore.

I have been a wrestle fan since before Wrestlemania 1. I remember seeing the Undertaker at Survivor Series for the first time and thinking how can anyone stop this giant man. I saw him beat all the good guys and then turn face so he could beat all the heels. He has carried the company when others were jumping ship. He has been involved in every type of match. The first Hell in the Cell with HBK. The magic Hell in the Cell with Mick Foley. Casket matches, fire around the ring, buried alive, He has risen from the dead, fought himself and been responsible for getting over more wrestlers than anyone else in the business. I'd have love to see Adam's 'How they should book the Undertaker's retirement' happen but when he re-dressed tonight back in his full gear after the match, you knew something was coming, and it was a fitting way to go out, watching him slowly sink into the ramp ... wow. His gear was left in the ring well after the fans had left, a great show of respect. He is the Phenom and there will never be another like him. Thanks Taker for everything, all the years and the fantastic shows. Now REST .. IN .......... PEACE!!!!

I started watching wrestling in 2006 when I was 7 years old. All of my friends liked the typical babyfaces like Cena or HHH or Rey Mysterio, but the first time I saw the Undertaker, I was hooked. I thought he was the coolest. He was the hard rock to the mainstream music that is Cena. I remember the first WM I watched was WM 23 and seeing Undertaker vs Batista that put the mania over the top for me. His match against Shawn Micheals at WM 25 solidified Taker as my favorite wrestler of all time. That being said, I teared up while this match was going on because Undertaker was broken, not in spirit but his body was broken. When Taker botched Reigns' tombstone, I knew this was Taker's last mania. Even after that, I wasn't prepared fro Undertaker taking off his gloves and coat and his hat. Long live the Undertaker. He can finally rest in peace.
@tommytracy43177 жыл бұрын
Wow. Crazy you became a fan in 2006. Makes me feel old. Glad you could latch on to the Deadman like that at such a young age. From someone who basically watched him from his incarnation until last night, I think 2005-2009 was his best run talent wise. Taker was incredible and his world title reigns in 07-08 were fantastic and well deserved. Do yourself a favor and watch some of his late 90's stuff on the Network too. The man is a damn legend!

clzm90. If you want two mainias then put 29 instead of 30 the build-up with Punk was amazing,the match was amazing plus Punk was a top heel at the time.While at WM 30 you have a guy who had 2 segments with Taker before their match,squashed Taker and ended the streak and that was the worst thing they ever did.

@RosheEntertains7 жыл бұрын
WDFilms25 Roman is a heel just not the traditional heel that does "bad" things. Them doing this makes his haters hate him even more and he gets talked about even more. And with the WWE, any publicity is good publicity these days, its the same reason why Cena never became a bad guy. Out of all the new talent, Reigns is the most mainstream and the one that gets talked about the most by the fans. Like it or hate it, Reigns is the man now and in a weird way the reaction he gets signifies this. And yes whilst it would be a lot better for storyline and character development purposes if he just embraced the hate and became this cocky, no nonsense asshole that he's destined to be, the WWE are adamant on putting him in the limelight in their own way just like they did with Cena. And well to be fair to them, with the attention (good or bad) that Reigns gets, you cant say they're failing.

I wept like a child when Undertaker left the ring, not least because I was a child when Undertaker stepped into a WWE ring. He, more than any other wrestler has defined my love affair with wrestling. It was the Undertaker that got me into wrestling. When I went away while I discovered alcohol and boys the Undertaker was still there. When I came back to wrestling as an adult it was the Undertaker that was the familiar face that anchored me to the product. When I learned to appreciate wrestling as a legitimate contemporary art form it was the Undertaker who made that possible. Thank you Undertaker for being the single constant presence in my career as a wrestling fan.
@IamRizer7 жыл бұрын
Overall I thought most of WM33 was good. But there were some things that really annoyed me about it. John Cena and Nikki didn't need that win. They could've lost via chicanery and then cleared the ring and done their proposal. That way everyone would've won. The wrestling fans would've got the Miz winnig and maintaining his heat, and the casula fans would've got cena and Nikki in their wedding thing. Poor Dean Ambrose.. that guy works so hard, and his match was dumped on the pre-show. And Mojo winning the battle royale... I mean now I'm glad that match doesn't really mean anything, because Mojo is awful. The on thing that annoyed me the most about this WM though was Bray Wyatt losing... again! Honestly, he went from being a possible replacement for the Undertaker, with his creepy, southern cult-leader gimmick, to now being essentially a demented homeless person who flunked out of magicians school. Without wins in rivalries he just looks foolish, and ever since his loss to John Cena at 30 he has only won 3 feuds overall. Against Dean Ambrose, The ECW guys and the New Day. He has lost so many matches that he honestly might be damaged goods at this point. Did Randy Orton need that win? No, he could lose every match for the next 3 years and still be considered a top guy. It's ridiculous that they even put the belt on him, just for seemingly no reason. Bray Wyatt is such an excellent character, but because of the way he has been protrayed over the past few years it has been hard to even envision him as a credible threat to anyone. If he started a program with Mojo Rawley on Smackdown this week, who do you think would win that? Sure you might think Bray, but in the back of everyone's mind now it'll always be a possibilty that he'd lose that. The worst part is, I knew he would lose at WM. I just knew it, and what happens now? Does he get hiw rematch against randy at the next PPV? Why? He'll just lose that. Does he go on to face Dean Ambrose? He'll lose that too. I'm so mad about this, that it almost ruined this WM for me.

I have to say my hat is off to you for your speculation. However I would love to see Undertaker return better than he has been for a few years. Roman could potentially be a great heel if he was trained and loved in the business. Reigns could put out every single face in the company and then there would be one.... One that has unsettling score with the big dog. One that has lost his turf. A Veteran, a hero but no one matches the skill of the phenom. This isn't Undertaker retiring. This is Undertaker leaving.

Gotta hand it to WWE's editors, they did a great job getting out all those boos from the end of Taker vs Reigns. Seriously though, I saw that match, and I was immediately overwhelmed by a mixture of rage and sadness, just knowing that Undertaker, THE legend of WWE, the one that everyone knows and respects, got taken out not by someone great who will forever be remembered for their great accomplishments that they earned, but by the man who was handed the world on a silver platter by Vince McMahon. I saw the look on Roman's face after the match, and it seemed like he didn't want to do it either, it looked like he was thinking, "God, this was a terrible decision. I wish I never agreed to this."
@red-hairedturk51707 жыл бұрын
It was a great event. If you're watching Wrestlemania for the match quality and not the match moments, you're doing it wrong. AJ/Shane was amazing because Shane wrestled + spots. The finger of KO meant something and was amazing. The women's match was short and ended randomly but it had moments. Hardys returned, the ladder match is always great. The mixed tag served it's purpose but it was awesome seeing Miz get cheered like that. HHH/Seth was a story match and that made it great + Stephanie going through a table. Goldberg/Lesnar was freaking great, it was booked perfectly. The SDLive also served it's purpose and got Naomi her moment, plus her pop. Taker/Reigns was garbage, but it was emotional. Bray and Orton was boring but the moments made it cool. Plus the entrances, the sight. New Day dressing as FF characters. If you didn't find this WM enjoyable, I'm sorry you live such a boring life. Wrestling is fun.

Skreamie they are upset that Roman defeated taker it should have been someone else much like the streak. his career should have ended when the streak ended . WWE maybe could have done like undertaker the next time you lose a WrestleMania match you will be retired or something and have someone who could benefit win. someone who needs that rub to succeed and if Roman had turned heel this was the right move but he didn't so wrong choice

This was a solid wrestlemania for me Reigns notwithstanding. AJ and Shane was better than I was expecting. Shane has my respect after that Shooting Star Press attempt. Seeing The Hardys back in WWE was surreal. It was a very cool moment. Bray/Orton was the worst match of the night (for me) and could’ve been so so so much better. Rollins/Triple H was solid but kinda tame for an unsanctioned match. Brock/Goldberg lasted 4 minutes and 46 seconds….nuff said. Lastly if this is truly the last we see of Taker, then thanks for a helluva career. He deserved to main event if this was indeed his last wrestlemania. I just wish he didn’t put over Roman. Rather he fought Cena (or Sting). But in my opinion, Wrestlemania 33 was better than 32.

I'm glad someone finally spoke about this and gave it the justice it deserves. Most fans right now don't seem to realize it yet...THE UNDERTAKER has had his last match. It was an incredibly profound and powerful moment, him removing the gloves, the coat, and the hat. Him raising the fist to the air one last time and lowering into the fog and out of sight was bone chilling and unforgettable. The Undertaker has been around since before many of us were even born, and to think of a WWE without him is something I think many fans will be hit with pretty hard with at some point, if they haven't been already. It's something we've all talked about for years now, but let's be honest, we were never really ready for it. Despite how disgusted I am with how his final match played out, we should all be thankful for everything that man has put himself through, especially when he really didn't need to anymore. The greatest of all time, without a shadow of a doubt.
