It's interesting how the forest took over the two-story bunker. When it was built I bet it had a clear line of sight in front of the slits the observers inside would have used.
@davidbuck5864 Жыл бұрын
Just curious, why put the boxes back into the swamp after taking the trouble to find them? It is not like wood pulled from the ocean which must be kept wet to preserve it. Metal doesn't need that.

Given the condition of the soldiers' remains I'm wondering if they didn't have a big shell land right at their feet. Either that or they got trapped beneath the tracks of something very large.

Hey Guys how do so much military equipment end up in rivers, streams and such. Does the ground force these objects under the soil down into the nearest body of water or moist soil or what?
@godman50432 жыл бұрын
On a retreat, soldiers might have dumped supplies in a river to prevent them from falling into enemy hands

("Sgt.J."). "I, Assume the Russians threw the Equipment in to the Water to keep other German units from using it. The Russians had Different Calibers. Ad For the Grenades... I, Wonder Why the Russians would have left good Equipment. I, Would keep a J- 42. And, Spme of those Amo Boxes. If I, Was Mechanized Infantry. As s Light Infantry Soldier you, Can not Transport a lot of Stuff. Some of the German Tags look Broken? A name wad Left. They Really need to Contact Authorities in That Region. The way They are Going through Things, Don't look yo Careful to me. Thst Battle was Probably Intense? Russian. And, German deceased Soldiers. It was Probably marked. And, Reported. @fishermansbuddy3785 Жыл бұрын
I sadly suppose they are mostly after relics they turn into good money. An minimum of attitude would be sending the dogtags to the red cross, but even that means a loss of money to scavengers. These guys seem to collect the bones and tags, If the report it i don't know.
@tombchaser Жыл бұрын
@@fishermansbuddy3785 i have the same feeling. In other videos you hear them mentioning that the items gonna fetch them alot of money. That it was a shame a fragmented german helm didnt contain a skull. And there doesnt seem to be much respect to the bones either while digging. And then you have ppl say they dont deserve any because they invaded... many soldiers didnt even want to fight but had no choice because refusing would be a certain death. On the battlefield it was either them or you.
@ruthparker1140 Жыл бұрын
("Sgt.J.") Correct! Both Countries were Very Strict. Those People already in the military when the War Started Were "Sh.t out of luck." So, To Speak. I, Don't Want to inSult Anyone. So, Opinion won't Be Stated Here. Lol. Once Bodies were found they Need to Report to Law enforcement. And, Other Organizations. But, They Keep digging at Bodies... 🤨

Really fascinating to find forgotten soldiers from both sides. Was there any way to identify any of them? Also, since the Germans were found in a ditch with no clothing, is it possible they were executed? So many more questions....
@damit5052 жыл бұрын
I'm wondering if you reburied the soldiers and informed authorities
@pauldurkee47642 жыл бұрын
If they had no clothing, it's a possibility that they were wounded and taken to an aid post or dressing station, had their clothes removed to perform treatment for wounds?
@kurttrzeciak83262 жыл бұрын
@@damit505 I am not sure what they did, but I think they are supposed to contact the German war graves organization so that the soldiers' remains can be identified and receive a proper burial in a military cemetery.
@dronenoobFL2 жыл бұрын
Cold weather, Germans were not prepared for it. Possibility someone took their clothes as an extra layer of warmth.
@collecter34562 жыл бұрын
When in the last stages of hypothermia, people tend to feel very hot and take off all of their clothes before they die. These soldiers might have died due to hypothermia.

@johntvrdy45332 жыл бұрын
Wonderful families of both sides now can find some closure. How about videos of post exhumations ie what happens to the remains and the information on the dog tags. I did find your usage of the phrase the rising confusing until I realised you meant exhumation
@dukewellington31742 жыл бұрын
I think this is passed onto to the relevant authorities. Some of the Dog Tags are not able to be read and the Germans had a poor system to ID Soldiers - Dog Tags with Blood Group/ The Name or abbreviated name of the unit when they entered service (usually a training unit) and the personnel number in the unit they entered service in. It was unusual to have the name of the unit on your dog tag as if captured they would know if you were infanty/artilley/tank unit/airforce etc Whereas others had dog tags with a combination of the service member's name, blood type, serial number, the name of their next of kin and the address, city and state of their next of kin. i.e US/UK/Italy/Commonwealth Countries The Soviets I understand did not have Dog Tags they had Ebonite/Bakelite Capsules and the Soldiers details were listed on a piece of paper and put inside these.
