ofcaurse thats what it would have been like faceing T80Us and T-72Bs. the US army did tests on the latter in 2006 and found even then (20 years after it entered service) no american weapon could penetrate it from the front (if you are wondering that is why they created top attack missiles like javilin and TOW 2B)

Soviet force is about 49 pts and American force is about 40 pts, if strictly followed the instruction. I think players can use T80s as shock company and M1A1 instead of IPM1. In this way it is 57 pts vs 55 pts, which is more balanced.

The IPM1 is a poor match up against the t-18. Later models are probably fine.

@@ModellingforAdvantage If you fit them 'correctly' there are two circular mould marks facing the front that you have to fill, sand down, or cover with 'mud'. That threw me off because it looks so obviously WRONG when you fit them the RIGHT way :p

It gets a lot more complex when you add in artillery, infantry, aircraft and such - but the basic move a tank and shoot stuff is straight forward for sure.

We play a house rule that Recon units cannot be seen in cover from further than 24", they are just that sneaky. Otherwise turn 1 is 6 shots at your FOO using GodView and you painted that model beautifully for no reason at all, it's dead.

It is all cheapo stuff - trees are cheap ones from China on Amazon just based. Mat was from Wish, again, a cheap oiutdoor fake grass thing and the building is an eBay purchase made from MDF.

You can include infantry.... But I find it slows the game right down, ultimately I think you need them to play the game actual, especially when you have static objectives... Much like flames of war. I would be pretty happy to just play with more tanks!.... Less nadgery... Arguably less tactical.... But fast and hopefully fun 🤣

Yes it does! We are just keeping it real simple for now. Infantry are a big part of this game, but they slooooooooooooooooooow the game down a great deal. As would, you know, a proper sized board. But we just want to blow stuff up sometimes and tanks do that!

@@ModellingforAdvantage Puts the TOW Lynx at a bit of a disadvantage as well. Cobra or Apache can at least use machine guns if they move.

Nooo the Abrams lost...:(( it was a fun game, more fun than soldiers and pins, it is a bit of a joke that abrams can t pen the front.. Would be fun to see a rematch..

how is it a joke? in real life even the 120mm armed abrams couldn't penatrate T-72Bs (which has similar armour to the T-80U, if not less) in us tests in 2006 (where they had more advanced ammo than the 80s). fighting the best of the soviets in 1985-90 would have been a nightmare for the army. whats actually a joke is that its armour is so low... only FA20? what a joke, not even the US 120mm could penetrate its level of armour and that is AT23. it should be atleast FA21 if not FA22 or even FA23. battlefront have a clear pro-NATO bias, nerfing the warsaw pact and giveing NATO prototypes while pact don't even have their complete mass produced stuff (where is the T-72B, the T-64BV?)

It certainly does, they just don't include it in the starter sets to keep the game fast & simple for newbies.

It is not a veyr balanced set, but having tried it, I suspect if the US tanks make every effort to avoid being shot at until they can take side shots it might be possible.

Doesn't look like a balanced box set here. Maybe if they were M1A1. Problem with this is that it gives new players a bad impression of the game, to the point where they just sell it off and try another game.

If you gave the americans M1A1s, that's 6 shots of AT23. They'd delete the Soviet list in 3-4 turns.
