Omi Acosta took over as the Head Coach of the Life University Men's Wrestling Team during the 2016-2017 season, since then he’s produced 8 individual NAIA National champions,14 NAIA National finalists, 40 NAIA All-Americans, and 66 NAIA National Qualifiers. Last season, Acosta led the Running Eagles to a 2nd place at the NAIA National Championships bringing home his 4th NAIA Team Trophy back to Life University. With NWCA National Duals back on again after taking a hiatus last season, Acosta led them back to the finals for the 4th time in his Coaching Career. The individual accolades reflect the team's accomplishments, breaking through to win the 2021 NAIA National Championship, and earning a third-place team finish in 2019, while also making back-to-back trips to the NWCA NAIA National Duals Finals in 2019, 2020, 2022, and 2023. Coach Acosta's Running Eagles have placed inside the Top-10 every year at the NAIA National Tournament since he took over and has been awarded Life University’s Coach of the Year in both 2019 and 2021. For his team's standout performance in 2021, he was named the 2021 NAIA Coach of the Year as well as USA Wrestling Magazine’s 2021 Coach of the Year across all collegiate divisions. Acosta led the Running Eagles to 4th straight conference regular season championships. As well as back-to-back-to-back Conference Tournament Championships. Acosta was also named conference Coach of the Year for the last 3 seasons. ( Source Life U )
