Alexander Grischuk is a Russian super grandmaster who is consistently among the world’s best players. While he’s an elite professional chess player, Grischuk is well-known for being one of the top blitz players. He’s a three-time World Blitz Champion, making him only one of two players to have multiple world titles in blitz time controls. The other player is Magnus Carlsen (with four titles), who’s widely recognized as one of the best chess players of all time.

Simon, the Grishcuk-MVL game was one of the best games of the 2017 SCC season... I'm surprised you didn't start the position from 14. e5! where he sacs the bishop on e7 to 1) infiltrate on the back rank, 2) shut down Black's counter play, 3) improve the prospects of his Knight by vacating the e4 square and heading for the outpost on f6. Then there was the doubling of the rooks on the e file, instead of on the d file which wins the c8 Bishop outright, but sets up the exchange sac which led to the position as you picked it up. I know you love Harry the h-pawn, and 24. h4! was a very nice cherry to this game, but I think you left out the most interesting bits of this amazing game. Anyway, thanks for this awesome Top 5 series!

Yeah most of these are just puzzle rush. For example last one is honestly a really simple tactic
@Ash-rx5wl
@Ash-rx5wl 3 жыл бұрын
@@None-zv2qk yes but these moves don't tend to come so easily during games cuz in puzzle rush, we have that frame of mind and also, we already know what the result of the puzzle rush should be, as they pretty much say White/ Black to play. But to make these risky daring calculations over the board, if we all general public could have done it, then we too would be playing in the candidates bro.
@None-zv2qk

@@Ash-rx5wl yeah but these are not tactics that a supergm would miss in a classical game
@Ash-rx5wl

@@None-zv2qk Yup that's what my point is. It's only possible by a SuperGM
@None-zv2qk
@None-zv2qk 3 жыл бұрын
@@Ash-rx5wl no but I'm saying these moves aren't really that notable for them. If a 2300 found it it would be impressive, but it would almost be embarrassing to miss it at that level, hence I don't think it's that impressive for them

Big fan of this series. I think a little more analysis of the lines would be useful. I know it’s not the main point of the series but some of us patzers are left scratching our heads when the defensive line we thought ruined the combo isn’t mentioned. Still love the series though. Edit: the rook move in example number 4 was the best of the lot, tough to see.

I thought more about about the avance of the pawn, that offers a better position for white, I considered too destroy thr conections of the rooks with the idea of winning, but maybe I conditionated myself too much when I heard, "Not really easy to see" so I stop to look there, take notes taco.
