You guys were the second sailing VLOG I began following, the first being LeaLea. I've been there from your first video, and cried during your wedding video. I've looked forward and enjoyed every episode. I visited Australia back in 96 and just love the people I met there. I love your passion, and hope that no matter what comes next, you keep your fans in mind and share your adventures. If you make it as far south as Seattle I would love to get the opportunity to shake your hands. Perhaps you could do an organized talk here in Seattle at our marina. They host several adventurers and sea travelers. Be well you guys and all the best it has been wonderful following your travels.

I have loved every one of your videos and I'm going to be very sad to see this series end. Your entire journey has been fascinating and so completely different from all the other cruising stories I've followed. Having the opportunity to see parts of my own country that I will never get to see otherwise, and to have two such enthusiastic and well educated guides is a real joy. Thank you both so much for sharing this trip of a lifetime with all of us. :) Cheers, and fair winds, Ian Dinsdale.

Thanks for your amazing photography and ever so cheerful commentary! I'm hoping that you put together an 'extended' play version of your adventure (maybe a movie?). There were scenes in this update that showed the mystical lights and darks of the Pacific Northwest, scenes that linger in the mind's eye; the beauty and majesty brought to us by you. Cheers to you!

+Sean “SV Inopii” Thompson We do plan on getting another boat 'eventually', we are in no hurry. Our absolute dream would be to sail 6 months of the year work 6 months of the year... but we have a lot of work to do with our business before this could happen. So that's what we need to concentrate on for the next few years before we jump in and purchase another boat. I'm trying to put together a short docco on our sailing adventures to enter in film festivals so I think this ch. might just fill up with re-edits of the same stuff, maybe. Not sure!

Fantastic video! Congratulations on completing sailing all the Alaskan coast, a truly amazing feat. Can I ask what video equipment you use? Do you use the Canon with the big lens for video as well as photo? Your videos are so crisp and beautiful colours, I would really like to make video like yours! Thanks so much for your videos, for me they are sensational and inspire me to chase a dream or two. Cheers Darren ...may you Fair winds and following seas!

+MrDaz1964 Thanks for your lovely comment. I'm really glad you have enjoyed our videos! All of our photography / video equipment has mainly been on on our DSLR's or Go Pro's - We upgrade our DSLR's every 2/3 years so they have changed over time but we are now shooting with the Canon 7D MKII and the 1DX, we try to purchase len's with image stabilisation, we use a lot of the Canon 16-35mm for wide, 24-104mm for mid range and as of a year or so ago Chris got the 200-400mm with inbuilt tele extender and I have been using the canon 100-400mm, or the 400mm f2.8 (but I didn't use that much on Teleport because it was too big and heavy to lug around!) We use a lot of Go-pros and have them stuck all around the boat, set them up on tripods for time-lapse photography and put them on the end of long poles for underwater photography for the inquisitive dolphins and marine animals. We have started to use our iphone to film and photograph a little bit more just because it always seems to be in our pocket and we also have a little shockproof / waterproof canon D20 that we pull out from time to time during bad weather. We find audio the hardest - we use RODE microphones, for the earlier videos we were lazy and didn't use the mic's often enough (and they were bigger and bulky during that time as well) but as the mic's have decreased in size over the years we have been better at putting them on most of the time. But there is still lots of background wind / engine noise that we know just sometimes ruins the shot / audio. I've been mucking around with Audio a little in post production on some of the latest videos and sometimes all I achieve is a 'tinny' sound - but with much less wind.

+wwwYachtTeleportCom Thank you so much for your reply and taking the time to explain your gear. The 7D MKII is indeed a great camera and I checked out the details of the 200 to 400 lens; that is certainly a very impressive lens! Anyway, regardless of the gear, you both are obviously very talented and it shows in the high quality of your videos. I loved the GoPro in the bird nests footage from Cambridge Bay, wonderful stuff! I'd also like to add that you guys are quite an inspiration, so much so that that my wife and I will now include in our yacht buying search the requirements to follow in your icy wake 😀 thank you again and we look forward to future Teleport videos, cheers Darren

Have you guys ever thought about rigging up a small forsail of sorts? Cant help but think it would help with sailing into the wind quite a bit. Unless that just isn't compatible with your mast (no stays and all)
@user-gd7kc6mv1j
@user-gd7kc6mv1j 9 жыл бұрын
+abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz G'Day! Yes we do have a foresail, but it was advised never to be used in winds over 5 knots, for fear of snapping the mast! So, we have actually never used it, it'll be pretty annoying if a gust of wind went over 5 knots came and we snapped our mast!!

+Two aboard Tuuli We LOVE our Air Breeze wind turbine!! We get so much more electricity from that over the solar (but that's because of the high latitude and our solar panels not being adjustable.) You'll be so happy you made the purchase!!
@Two-aboard-tuuli
@Two-aboard-tuuli 9 жыл бұрын
Super, we can't wait to mount it. What mast height/length did you choose to elevate the turbine?
@user-gd7kc6mv1j
@user-gd7kc6mv1j 9 жыл бұрын
+Two aboard Tuuli Sorry, we really can't remember, it's tall enough that when we stand up in the back of the cockpit we can't reach it with our hands, we also had to try and have it as far back as possible so it didn't get in the way of the ropes when we tack / jib. At the moment there still is that danger that the loose ropes can get tangled around it, so we try to remember to turn the turbine off when we tack or jibe, but I do think this could just be a junk rig problem.
