Gotta say, I am very against this singles only type model. I think you lose a lot in terms on themes and cohesion. I love when an entire album flows so well. You have highs and lows heavier and softer tracks. With singles, you lose so much. It becomes very much of a reflection of the modern day internet. Short attention spans and only releasing things that generate the most buzz in the shortest amount of time. Similar to how the movie industry has gone with the advent of streaming. You can’t make the same types of movies you used to because all money has to be made in a short period of time in theaters. So all you get are the big block buster type films and almost none of the more experimental, artistic films or really good drama films. All that sells is fast action. All that sells is crazier and crazier KZbin videos, more outrageous stunts, bigger and bigger open world video games. In music, this will result on only singles type tracks. And I think most people know what I mean. Singles are meant to appeal to the most people possible to generate the most revenue possible in the shortest period of time. It reduces authenticity and real art in music. Same with so many aspects of our society. That’s my take anyway
